The Lord's perfect timing, Rosh Hashonah, September 22, 1827

From A Mormon’s Guide to Judaism. Two additional connections between Jews and the Restoration of the Gospel: (1) The Golden Plates were delivered by the angel Moroni to Joseph Smith on Rosh Hashanah, September 22, 1827, when Jews all over the world were praying for the restoration of the brit, meaning covenant.(2) Following the restoration of the Gospel on Passover, April 3, 1836,the Lord Yeshua appeared in vision to the Prophet Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery in the Kirtland, Ohio Temple.
One result of the Prophet Joseph Smith receiving the Golden Plates on Rosh Hashonah(see p. 37) was that the heavenly vision of the forces of good vs evil was shown to John P Greene, Brigham Young, John Young, Heber C Kimball--all neighbors-- in Mendon, NY, a short distance north of Palmyra. In June 1830 Samuel Smith, the prophet's brother and the first Mormon missionary, left the first copy of the newly printed Book of Mormon
with Rev John P Greene who loaned it to the Youngs and Kimballs. The rest is “history”. A new Cycle of God had commenced' P.63

...and bringing them to a knowledge of their fathers in the latter days; and also to the knowledge of my covenants, saith the Lord.” He also said that “for the thing which the Lord shall bring forth by his hand shall bring my people unto salvation.”(JST Gen. 50:24-36)It would be well to note that Lehi, who had the brass plates, which included the five books of Moses (1 Ne. 5:10-11), quoted from Joseph’s prophecies. This adds a second witness to the importance of Joseph’s prophecies (see 2 Ne. 3).

The Feast of Weeks, to modern Jews the Shavuot, and the endowment May 3 and 4th 1842

The Timing of Christ’s Appearance to the Nephites, Shavuot, and the Temple Endowment
By Christopher Kirkland · September 22, 2020
Here is a sample.
“Restoring Sinai’s First Set of Tablets”

One of the holiest celebrations that has persisted from ancient Israel till the present is known in English as The Feast of Weeks. To modern Jews, it is known as Shavuot. For Latter-day Saints, this feast has a surprising timing that correlates to higher ordinances in the New Testament, The Book of Mormon, and even the first temple ordinances given to Latter-day Saints in modern times...

.But feeling impressed to convey the ordinances he believed God wanted mankind to have, and perhaps sensing his time was near, he initiated several groups of people with a series of sacred teachings, ordinances, and covenants, that would later be given only within the Temple. This was on May 3 and 4th inside Joseph’s red brick store in Nauvoo. Joseph prepared the second floor to represent “the interior of a temple as circumstances would permit.”

And just when was Shavuot being observed in 1842? It was May 3rd, of course. Just like in the old and new worlds anciently, the higher teachings withheld at Sinai were once again restored to individuals on the earth.https://latterdaysaintmag.com/the-timin ... endowment/

The last true prophet the Jews accept was Malachi, almost five hundred years before the birth of our Savior. Part of Malachi's message was this, repeated by Moroni to the boy prophet Joseph.

Joseph Smith—History 1:36 After telling me these things, he commenced quoting the prophecies of the Old Testament. He first quoted part of the a third chapter of Malachi; and he quoted also the fourth or last chapter of the same prophecy, though with a little variation from the way it reads in our Bibles. Instead of quoting the first verse as it reads in our books, he quoted it thus:

37 For behold, the day cometh that shall burn as an oven, and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly shall burn as stubble; for they that come shall burn them, saith the Lord of Hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

38 And again, he quoted the fifth verse thus: Behold, I will reveal unto you the Priesthood, by the hand of Elijah the prophet, before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.

39 He also quoted the next verse differently: And he shall plant in the hearts of the children the promises made to the fathers, and the hearts of the children shall turn to their fathers. If it were not so, the whole earth would be utterly wasted at his coming.

And so he did, restoring authority needed in this dispensation of time to fulfill Malachi's prophesy.

The following is from B.Y.U. Studies.
Edersheim in his work, The Temple, says: “To this day, in every Jewish home, at a certain part of the Paschal service [i.e., when they drink the “third cup”]—the door is opened to admit Elijah the prophet as forerunner of the Messiah, while appropriate passages are at the same time read which foretell the destruction of all heathen nations. It is a remarkable coincidence that, in instituting his own Supper, the Lord Jesus connected the symbol, not of judgment, but of his dying love, with his ‘third cup.”’
Some may refer to it as coincidence or sheer irony that Elijah appeared in the Kirtland Temple on April 3, 1836. April 3rd of that year also coincided with the third day of the Paschal feast, the day that the Jews opened their homes to invite Elijah. Little did they realize that he did appear, not in their homes, but in the Kirtland Temple.
As interesting as the above story is, the significance of the situation is enhanced when one discovers the actual time of day that Elijah appeared to Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery was also the very hour of the day, in their time zone, that Jewish families were preparing to begin the feast of the Passover.https://byustudies.byu.edu/article/the- ... -passover/[/url]

To the very day, the Easter of 1836 completed a Jewish calendar realignment interval of 1,803 years since the Easter of A.D. 33.13 This fact has two consequences. First, the Jewish calendar would begin to repeat for several years. Secondly, it means that the Easter of 1836 was calendrically the most similar in history to the Easter of A.D. 33. And if the earth’s orbit continues unchanged, that Easter should retain this distinction for another three thousand years....

As an astronomer who has studied the lunisolar calendar, I was intrigued by Elijah’s return occurring not only during Passover week, as anticipated by the Jews, but also on an Easter Sunday that was calendrically similar to the proposed date of the Savior’s resurrection, being both April 3 on the Gregorian calendar and 16 Nisan on the Hebrew calendar.

Was that merely a calendrical coincidence? Or could the timing of Elijah’s return have been purposely chosen to correspond to some special Passover in accordance with Jewish tradition? Pursuing these types of questions led me to discover an interval of time that is so remarkable in an astronomical sense that it seems to constitute evidence that the timing of Elijah’s return was carefully chosen.

Easter is always on Sunday, usually the first one following Passover, a calendrical choice that commemorates the Savior’s resurrection on Sunday. It can also serve as a reminder that he was crucified at the Passover, the ceremony foreshadowing his great sacrifice. Because of the relationship of Passover to the lunisolar calendar, Easter is usually the first Sunday after the first full moon on or after the spring equinox. Thus, the date of Easter varies from year to year, occurring between March 22 and April 25.

Accordingly, only about one Easter in thirty will fall on any particular day during that period, such as April 3. Moreover, not all Easters fall on the same day of the Judean month, but usually between 15 Nisan and 21 Nisan.

So, how often does Easter Sunday occur on both April 3 and 16 Nisan, as it did in A.D. 33? It happens less than once every century, on the average. The year 1836 was the only such occurrence in the nineteenth century.

Interestingly, the accuracy of the calendrical alignment between A.D. 33 and 1836 is even more precise than to the very day. To understand this added precision, a new concept called a “realignment interval” will be defined and applied to the lunisolar calendar(explained in link at bottom of post).

The evidence presented above suggests that the timing of Elijah’s return may have been arranged to occur on the best anniversary of Easter, calendrically speaking, in history. But for what reason? This is explained in this article. The Restoration of Priesthood Keys on Easter 1836, Part 2: Symbolism of Passover and of Elijah’s Return

Once again Rosh hashana will occur this month, this time a little earlier than some years. This year, sunset September 6, 2021 - till sunset September 8, 2021. Something to think about this year relating to Rosh hashana seems appropriate. ;) “On the evening on the 21st of September, A.D. 1823, while I was praying unto God, and endeavoring to exercise faith in the precious promises of Scripture, on a sudden a light like that of day, only of a far purer and more glorious appearance and brightness, burst into the room, indeed the first sight was as though the house was filled with consuming fire; the appearance produced a shock that affected the whole body; in a moment a personage stood before me surrounded with a glory yet greater than that with which I was already surrounded. This messenger proclaimed himself to be an angel of God, sent to bring the joyful tidings that the covenant which God made with ancient Israel was at hand to be fulfilled, that the preparatory work for the second coming of the Messiah was speedily to commence; that the time was at hand for the Gospel in all its fullness to be preached in power, unto all nations that a people might be prepared for the Millennial reign. I was informed that I was chosen to be an instrument in the hands of God to bring about some of His purposes in this glorious dispensation. ("The Wentworth Letter," History of the Church, 4:536-537)

No doubt many likely reasons can be suggested for the timing of Moroni’s visits to Joseph Smith each year in late September and also for his particular insistence that Joseph wait four years before recovering the plates. For example, that waiting period allowed Joseph Smith time to mature a bit more, to be married, and to be periodically instructed by Moroni.

But perhaps most striking of all, one further reason could have been so that his instructions would closely coincide with the sacred Israelite autumn festival season, with him delivering the plates right on Rosh Hashanah. The number of meaningful ways in which the messages and purposes of the Book of Mormon coincide with the themes of Rosh Hashanah and the Jewish high holy days suggest that this timing was no coincidence, but that Moroni had carefully and deliberately scheduled his meaningful visits. For these reasons, there was no better day on which to commence the coming forth of the Book of Mormon than Rosh Hashanah, September 22, 1827.https://knowhy.bookofmormoncentral.org/ ... festivals.

Oliver Cowdery (Second Elder of the Church)

Though fear was banished form his [Joseph's] heart, yet his surprise was no less when he heard him [Moroni] declare himself to be a messenger sent by commandment of the Lord, to deliver a special message, and to witness to him that his sins were forgiven, and that his prayers were heard; and that the scriptures might be fulfilled, which say "God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; and base things of the world, and things which are despised, has God chosen; yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things which are, that no flesh should glory in his presence. Therefore, says the Lord, I will proceed to do a marvelous work among this people, even a marvelous work and a wonder; the wisdom, of their wise shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent shall be hid; for according to his covenant which he made with his ancient saints, his people, the house of Israel, must come to a knowledge of the gospel, and own that Messiah whom their fathers rejected, and with them the fullness of the Gentiles be gathered in, to rejoice in one fold under one Shepherd."

"This cannot be brought about until first certain preparatory things are accomplished, for so has the Lord purposed in his own mind. He has therefore chosen you as an instrument in his hand to bring to light that which shall perform his act, his strange act, and bring to pass a marvelous work and a wonder. Wherever the sound shall go it shall cause the ears of men to tingle, and wherever it shall be proclaimed, the pure in heart shall rejoice, while those who draw near to God with their mouths, and honor him with their lips, while their hearts are far from him, will seek its overthrow, and the destruction of those by whose hands it is carried. Therefore, marvel not if your name is made a derision, and had as a by-word among such, if you are the instrument in bringing it, by the gift of God, to the knowledge of the people."
(Messenger and Advocate, 1:80)

One question. What do these have to do with anything other than Jewish mythology. If I recall correctly, the Jews rejected Christ. Why should modern day Christians revere anything the ancient Jewish mysticist made up?

Some Jews rejected the Christ, some who didn't died as martyrs following him.

Well very cool, here is something you might enjoy.

LDS Temples and 'Ancient Wisdom'

In ancient Christianity various “esoteric mysteries” were taught. Evidence exists that these “mysteries” were temple ordinances that were practiced and performed for both the living and the dead, notably Baptism for the Dead, the Endowment and Marriage for Eternity. It is hoped that a sense of the beauty and majesty of these ordinances and the principles they symbolize will enlighten the soul and distill the mysteries of the kingdom through the ‘Ancient Wisdom’ it represents.

The "Catholic Liturgy and the Mormon Temple" article by Marcus von Wellnitz shows how the Ancient Christians beliefs have filtered down through the ages. Tracing Catholic concepts to early Christian and ancient Jewish concepts provides some great insights.
Some of the aspects of Catholic rites discussed by Wellnitz include:

• the giving of new names to those entering monasteries
• the ancient practice of keeping men and women separate in the church, just as they were kept separate in the temple at Jerusalem
• the use of a veil or covering for women's heads
• the atrium of the church as a symbol of paradise or the garden of Eden
• the porter at the door of the chapel in the primitive church to ensure that only worthy persons entered
• details of ritual clothing and related symbolism
• altars and veils in church buildings
• the use of the All-seeing Eye as a symbol in Renaissance and Baroque churches (shown in photographs of two old churches in Germany)
• the raising of the hands of the priest done anciently
• the hand symbol of a hollowed palm in the left hand when approaching the altar (see Cyril of Jerusalem, Catechetical Lectures, 23:21-22)
• the prayer offered for the church and the world by the priest which was repeated by the congregation, praying for names of people written on folded parchments (diptychs), especially for those who were ill or needed special consideration
• the ritual embrace and "kiss of peace" to welcome the initiate into the community
• ritual knocking (three times) with a hammer on the portal of a door, now acted out in the ritual of the Porta Santa at St. Peter in Rome, representing entry of the children of God into the presence of the Lord.http://ancient-wisdom-lds-temple.blogspot.com/

I believe that Gods timing is far more precise than any of us really have a sense of. I think it will be one of the most thrilling realizations we come to when the plan unfolds.

Except that it’s not Jewish mythology, it’s scriptural.

14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: (Genesis 1:14)

23 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
24 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation. (Leviticus 23:23-24)

Excellent LukeAir2008,

The Feast of Trumpets is the second most solemn day of the Jewish religious calendar, being surpassed in importance only by the Day of Atonment (Yom Kippur). The solemnity of the feast is hardly evident to a casual reader of the pertinent Biblical texts where the feast is simply designated as "a remembrance blast" (Lev 23:24) and "a day of blowing" (Num 29:1).

The Prophet Joseph Smith received the Golden Plates on Rosh haShanah. It was a sign that Heavenly Father would remember his covenants with Israel and bring them back from exile. This day, set at the time of Israel’s final agricultural harvest, also symbolizes the Lord’s final harvest of souls. Furthermore, it initiates the completion of the Lord’s time periods: the Days of Awe, and signifies the last time to prepare for final judgment and the Messianic Age.

The coming forth of the Book of Mormon is literally fulfilling such prophecies of the day. (L.H. Reed) The angel Moroni commanded Joseph to come to the hill on September 22. To be precise in his compliance and still to throw off meddlers who knew of the date, Joseph chose to go to Cumorah in the dead of night, almost the minute September 22 arrived.
It was the night of Rosh haShanah, on the Jewish Lunar calendar. (Bushman, Rough Stone Rolling, pg. 59)

As I said, the Lord's perfect timing.

Once again Rosh Hashonah aproches. Rosh Hashanah. Yom Kippur. Sukkot.

These don’t stand out to Latter-day Saints as significant dates in the early history of the Restoration like April 6, 1830, or “early in the spring of 1820.”

They should.

As we will see, the earliest events in the coming forth of the Book of Mormon, beginning with Joseph Smith acquiring the golden plates, occurred, not at random and sundry times, but on a sacred timetable from the Israelite calendar that demonstrates a larger design and enables us to better comprehend the purposes for which the Book of Mormon was brought forth

yes, this is my belief also...theses Jewish Feasts which are not Jewish at all...they were appointed to all 12 tribes of Israel are indicative of the Lord's timings for special events in man's history...worth noting here...is that Satan is well aware of the Lord's timetable for these specific events...its is also my belief that Satan uses the Lord's calendar of special events to Usurp and appropriate these sacred timelines for his own purposes. E.g. the destruction of the 1st and 2nd Temple, an enemy of God blaspheming in the Temple of God, etc...

He (Satan) is incredibly narcissistic. I believe that Satan is signalling his intent to raise the Anti-Christ up as God in the flesh on the 9th Av...2025 (Jewish calendar). This date has been used by Satan to cause catastrophic harm to the Israelites through the ages...

I have no credible earthly resources for this...but the Holy Ghost.

I don't believe this means the anti-Christ is raised up on this day...I believe he will have to be in power by then...

As always...unless the Lord testifies to you of any of this...disregard...

Some examples of what you are saying. Satan and the occult strive to desecrate holy symbols, human bodies(made in the image of God), the Church, ect.. Seems I have heard some examples of this before. I have been told that Satan even mocks the Lord's Priesthoods, claiming that he has his own. Inverted stars,(pentagrams) and by the way, this ancient symbol was used as a seal for Jerusalem twenty four hundred years ago, can be seen on some latter day Temples. It is very interesting that In the last half of the nineteenth century, just after they began to appear on latter day Temples, Satan, opportunist that he is, began to use them via some of his servants including Allister Crawley, as symbols of evil, thus mocking the newly built Temples.
This has not been lost on latter day enemies of the church, who strive to lead away the Lord's sheep, or anyone else who will listen to them. Yes, they are being told some facts by our informed members about this wrong headed approach to symbolism on the Salt Lake Temple as they gather outside of Temple Square, striving to mislead the saints. I hope they will listen to our members and quit teaching this false doctrine. True knowledge is power. Hope you enjoy this from the Joseph Smith Foundation on this subject.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vjWD6P7ZA0
Latter-day saints are often accused of Satanic worship because the Logan, Salt Lake and Nauvoo temples feature inverted pentagrams on the exterior surface. There are 40 are the Salt Lake Temple alone! Each of the circular windows surrounding the Nauvoo Temple depict an inverted pentagram surrounded by three stones at each of the four cardinal directions. Why would Joseph Smith, the Prophet of the Restoration, place an inverted pentagram on one of the most important early temples? Answered in video through above youtube link.
By the way, it seems modern freemasonry has been influenced and is also not what it once was. That is a topic for another day.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90OThOa59cIThis quote below is too good not to post. It was made as a comment to this video.

"It's interesting to note that the first temple built by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was built in 1840. The man credited to changing the meaning of the pentagram did not do so until 1855. Clearly, we see Satan is always trying to steal what God has created and twist it's meaning. I think of the symbol of the rainbow. God put it in the sky to remind us of the covenant He made with Noah, but now what is it being used for?"
I spend about one or two percent of my gospel study time studying anti l.d.s./other anti christian material so that I may strengthen myself and family and anyone throughout the world who has a testimony of the Lord and some knowledge of things as they really are who might need need more information, or shot of faith and truth at any time, or would receive it if given the opportunity as a new investigator. I am in good company, there are many others like me. There are answers to all of these anti propaganda efforts put forth by Satan and his many supporters both in the spirit world, and those in the flesh. Only if we will not put forth the effort, or listen to others who would lead us astray or know not where to look for answers(including prayer and direct revelation) will these things become a stumbling block.
While on the subject of temples, I will leave you with an important story about the Jordan River Temple. About twenty five years ago a friend of mine who worked with me as a Temple Square tour guide told us in a prayer meeting that she had been at a fireside where one of the J.R. Temple Presidency had spoken. He said one morning he came to enter the Temple even earlier than normal. as he got inside and walked the halls he was permitted to see the Temple filled angels rejoicing at the work that goes on there. Remember the Joseph Smith quote "if you could gaze into heaven five minutes..." How wonderful that must have been to see what he was shown.

I would wager that the Salt Lake Temple will no longer have inverted pentagrams, and some of the other carvings on the exterior surface, once Nelson’s Folly is complete.

Here is a little more related information for this thread, the following is published by the Church.

The Beginning of the Final Harvest

The Lord commanded Israel, “In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets” (Lev. 23:24). Because this festival was set for the first day of the seventh month of the Judaic calendar (usually falling in our September), the day was timed for the gathering of the vital oil and wine. Thus this festival initiated the fall season and the great and final time of “ingathering.”6

Many Jewish scholars have taught that the final spiritual gathering of Israel would begin with the Feast of Trumpets.7 As Elder Bruce R. McConkie (1915–85) of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles stated, “The completion of the full harvest … will not be completed until that millennial day when ‘the Lord shall be king over all the earth’ [Zech. 14:9].”8

It is noteworthy that the word of the Lord to Latter-day Saints is full of harvest imagery: “For behold the field is white already to harvest; and lo, he that thrusteth in his sickle with his might, the same layeth up in store that he perisheth not” (D&C 4:4). As modern prophets have said, the Book of Mormon is the major instrument the Lord prepared to initiate His final harvest.9 Therefore, it is significant that the golden plates were received on 22 September 1827, coinciding with the beginning of Israel’s fall garnering and symbolizing the onset of its final harvest of souls.https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/stu ... s?lang=eng

Now a little private history.

Lucy Mack Smith
On the twentieth of September Mr. Knight came with his friend Mr. Stowell to see how we were managing matters with Mr. Stoddard and company. They remained with us until the twenty-second. On the night of the twenty-first, I sat up very late, as my business pressed upon my hands, and I did not retire until past twelve. About twelve o'clock, Joseph came to me and asked me if I had a chest with a lock and key. I knew in a moment what he wanted it for and was alarmed, fearing that this might be a matter of great importance to him at that time. But Joseph replied, "Never mind, I can do very well just now without it. Be calm. All is right." But I found it very difficult to do so, for I had not forgotten the first failure.

Shortly after this, Joseph's wife passed through the room with her bonnet and riding dress; and in a few minutes they left together, taking Mr. Knight's horse and wagon. I spent the night in prayer and supplication to God, for the anxiety of my mind would not permit me to sleep. At a reasonable time for rising, I went to preparing breakfast, my heart fluttering at every footfall, for I now expected Joseph and Emma every moment and was in dread of a second disappointment in his obtaining the plates.

When the male part of the family sat down to breakfast, Mr. Smith inquired for Joseph (as no one knew where he had gone but myself). I told him that I thought I would not call Joseph, for I would like to have him take breakfast with his wife that morning… [a little later] Joseph returned.

I trembled so much with fear lest all might be lost again by some small failure in keeping the commandments, that I was under the necessity of leaving the room to conceal my feelings. Joseph saw this and followed me. "Mother," said he. "Do not be uneasy. All is right. See here," said he, "I have got the key.”

I knew not what he meant, but took the article in my hands and, examining it with no covering but a silk handkerchief, found that it consisted of two smooth three-cornered diamonds set in glass, and the glasses were set in silver bows connected with each other in much the same way that old-fashioned spectacles are made. He took them again and left me, but did not tell me anything of the record.

Soon after he came again and asked my advice what was best to do about getting a chest made. I told him to go to a cabinetmaker who had been making some furniture for my oldest daughter, and tell the man we would pay him for making a chest as we did for the other things he had made for us, namely one-half in cash and one-half in produce.

Joseph said that he would, but that he did not know where the money would come from, for there was not a shilling in the house.

Joseph kept the Urim and Thummim constantly about his person, by the use of which he could in a moment tell whether the plates were in any danger. Having just looked into them before Emma got there, he perceived her coming, came up out of the well, and met her. When she informed him of what had occurred, he told her that the record was perfectly safe, for the present; nevertheless, he concluded to return with his wife, as something might take place that would render it necessary for him to be at home where he could take care of it.

He went immediately to Mrs. Wells and told her that he must return home to attend to some important business. She was not willing for him to leave, but upon his promising to come back when he was at liberty again, she consented. She sent a boy to bring him a horse, which he mounted in his linen frock, with his wife by his side on her horse, decorated as before with a green hickory withe on his neck. And thus they rode through the village of Palmyra.

When he came, he met his father about a mile from the house pacing back and forth in great anxiety of mind. "Father," said Joseph, "there is no danger. All is perfectly safe. There is no cause of alarm."

When he had refreshed himself a little, he sent Carlos, my youngest son, to his brother Hyrum's to ask him to come up immediately, as he wished to see him. When Hyrum came, Joseph requested him to get a chest that had a good lock and key and, "Have it here," said Joseph, "so that it may be ready by the time I get home."

The plates were secreted about three miles from home in the following manner: Finding an old birch log much decayed, excepting the bark, which was in a measure sound, he took his pocketknife and cut the bark with some care, then turned it back and made a hole of sufficient size to receive the plates, and laying them in the cavity thus formed, he replaced the bark; after which he laid across the log in several places some old stuff that happened to lie near, in order to conceal, as much as possible, the place in which they were deposited.
Joseph took the plates from their place and, wrapping them in his linen frock, put them under his arm and started for the house. After walking a short distance in the road, he thought it would be safer to go across through the woods. Traveling some distance after he left the road, he came to a large windfall, and as he was jumping over a log, a man sprang up from behind and gave him a heavy blow with a gun. Joseph turned around and knocked him to the ground, and then ran at the top of his speed. About half a mile further, he was attacked again in precisely the same way. He soon brought this one down also and ran on again, but before he got home, he was accosted the third time with a severe stroke with a gun. When he struck the last one, he dislocated his thumb, which, however, he did not notice till he came in sight of the house. He threw himself down in the corner of the fence to recover his breath. As soon as he was able, he rose and finished his race for the house, where he arrived altogether speechless from fright and exhaustion.

After a moment's rest, he said, "Mother, send Carlos for Father and Mr. Knight and his friend Stowell, and tell them to go and see if they can find some men who have been pursuing me. Then let Carlos go tell Hyrum to bring his chest."

When Carlos went into Hyrum's house, he found him at tea with two of his wife's sisters. Carlos touched his brother's shoulder just as he was raising his cup to his mouth. Without waiting to hear a word of the child's errand, Hyrum dropped his cup, sprang from the table, fetched up the chest, turned it upside down, and, leaving the contents on the floor, left the house in an instant with the chest on his shoulder.

The young ladies were much surprised at his singular behavior and protested to his wife (who was bedfast, her oldest daughter, Lovina, being but four days) that her husband was positively crazy. She laughed heartily, "Oh, not in the least. He has just thought of something that he has neglected, and it's just like him to fly off on a tangent when he thinks of anything that way."

When the chest came, Joseph locked up the record and threw himself on the bed. After resting himself a little so that he could converse, he went out and related his adventure to his father, Mr. Knight, Mr. Stowell, and others, who had come back from their scouting expedition without seeing anyone. He showed them his thumb, saying, "I must stop talking, Father, and get you to put my thumb in place, for it is very painful."

When this was done, he related to our guests the whole history of the record, which interested them very much. They listened and believed all that was told them.

When Joseph first took the plates into his hands, the angel of the Lord stood by and said:

"Now you have got the record into your own hands, and you are but a man, therefore you will have to be watchful and faithful to your trust, or you will be overpowered by wicked men, for they will lay every plan and scheme that is possible to get them away from you. And if you do not take heed continually, they will succeed. While they were in my hands I could keep them, and no man had power to take them away, but now I give them up to you. Beware, and look well to your ways, and you shall have power to retain them until the time for them to be translated."

That of which I spoke, which Joseph termed a key, was indeed nothing more nor less than a Urim and Thummim by which the angel manifested those things to him that were shown him in vision; by which also he could at any time ascertain the approach of danger, either to himself or the record, and for this cause he kept these things constantly about his person. If you believe when Joseph Smith received the gold plates was during Feast of Trumpets, starting the day at sunset and using the first visible crescent of the moon does not work with the calendar.

September 22, 1827, was the Autumn Equinox. This is when there is about the same amount of hours of sunlight as there is night, hence the Latin name “equinox”— or equal night. There’s also the “harvest moon” in September on or near the Fall Equinox, which has to do with the gathering in the last harvest of crops. Farmers worked through the night by the light of the full moon.https://www.deilataylor.com/the-feast-o ... eph-smith/

Rosh Hashanah, or Feast of Trumpets (also called The Day of Remembrance), fell on the evening of September 21st in 1827 as the sunset. (On the Judaic calendar, this was the first day of the seventh month called Tishri–the new day beginning at sunset. Remember that each day begins at sundown on the Jewish calendar.) The Feast of the Trumpets continued on the 22nd of September, 1827. It is a two-day celebration.

So, the Feast of Trumpets, the holy day of Rosh Hashanah, the gathering of the good grain in one last harvest before the fields are burned, and the coming forth of the Book of Mormon on that specific date (the first day of Fall), are all related. Joseph Smith was either a genius in Old Testament symbolism and ancient Israel’s holy day celebrations, who understood how meeting Moroni on the first day of Fall each year and then receiving the golden plates on that very day in 1827, was all spiritually significant to the gathering of Israel—or he simply was following the inspired instructions by an angel sent from the presence of God.https://latterdaysaintmag.com/the-inspi ... of-mormon/

Nope and I show how what you are stating does not work in the video. FYI BoM teaches the day starts in the morning https://seekingyhwh.org/2018/12/09/on-t ... w-morning/ and so does the Bible with a multitude of examples https://seekingyhwh.org/resources/morning/.

Moroni’s annual visits occurred generally around the time of the Israelite harvest festival season.1 The initial visit on September 21 in 1823 coincided with that year’s celebration of the Feast of Tabernacles. In 1824, September 22 was the eve of the Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah) and the beginning of the fall festivals. In 1825, September 22 was precisely Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement). In 1827, when Moroni finally delivered the plates to Joseph (Joseph Smith—History 1:59), his timing on September 22 coincided exactly with Rosh Hashanah, also known as the Feast of Trumpets.2https://knowhy.bookofmormoncentral.org/ ... ptember-22

In 1826(this was the year before Joseph would receive the plates), Rosh Hashanah was October 2, so none of the Jewish holidays landed on September 22. The following year 1827 when Joseph received the plates, it was, and matched my information in all my posts. These dates were checked online at http://www.colelchabad.org/Calendar.htm :)

What I'm showing in the video if you go by night and first sliver as most do because of false traditions of men, JS did not get the gold plates on Feast of Trumpets.

The Later Harvest

The Lord set forth another series of holy days for the seventh month, coinciding with the later, or autumn, harvest. They are (1) the Feast of Trumpets, (2) the Day of Atonement, and (3) the Feast of Tabernacles. These holy days also held prophetic significance, for they have an important relationship to the Lord’s spiritual gleaning in the latter days.4

So significant are these three days—the Feast of Trumpets (Rosh Hashanah), the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur), and the Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot)—that together they are called by Jews the High Holy Days and the Days of Awe. To read lot's more on this topic, here is a link.https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/stu ... s?lang=eng

The Prophet Joseph Smith received the Nephite plates on the annual day when Jews throughout the world celebrated the symbolic beginning of Israel’s final gathering.

Other very interesting timing surrounds the spring Feast of the Passover, Easter, the probable time of the birth of our Savior, and the return of Elijah and other Kirtland Temple dedication events. Elijah appeared...the very hour of the day...Jewish families were preparing to begin the feast of the Passoverviewtopic.php?t=51851&start=25
