Boyd K. Packer:
"...I am sorry to tell you that it will not get better." President Packer goes on to say: "I know of nothing in the history of the Church, or in the history of the world to compare with our present circumstances. Nothing happened in Sodom and Gomorrah which exceeds in wickedness and depravity that which surrounds us now. Words of profanity, vulgarity, and blasphemy are heard everywhere.
Unspeakable wickedness and perversion were once hidden in dark places; now they are in the open, and even accorded legal protection. At Sodom and Gomorrah these things were localized. Now, they are spread across the world, and they are among us." The One Pure Defense President Boyd K. Packer
Acting President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, an Evening with President Boyd K. Packer, 6 February 2004

Who would have thought in 2004 that in less than 20 years the church would no longer consider homosexuality sinful. That Instead of crying repentance unto the homosexual and helping them to turn away from this fetish, we are now encouraging people to identify as such and celebrate this fetish as good and beautiful. That members would be the ones being chastised for not being accepting enough of this perversion within the walls of our dedicated holy places.
How prophetic, that in May of 1993, Elder Packer would put his finger on the exact things which are now causing many to loose their faith by separating themselves from revelation teaching us about how to prepare to enter in the presence of the Father and the Son. Here following is a sample.
Perhaps too many of us are strong advocates of our own specialized work or are such strong protectors of our own turf that we face the wrong way...
surely you have been anxiously watching the worldwide evaporation of values and standards from politics, government, society, entertainment, schools. Could you be serving in the Church without having turned to those pages in the revelations and to those statements of the prophets that speak of the last days? Could you, in working for the Church, not be conscious of or have ignored the warnings? Could you be blind to the drift that is taking place? Are you not conscious of the drift that is taking place in the Church? Could you believe other than it is critical that all of us work together and set aside personal interests and all face the same way?
It is so easy to be turned about without realizing that it has happened to us. There are three areas where members of the Church, influenced by social and political unrest, are being caught up and led away. I chose these three because they have made major invasions into the membership of the Church. In each, the temptation is for us to turn about and face the wrong way, and it is hard to resist, for doing it seems so reasonable and right(for some).
The dangers I speak of come from the gay-lesbian movement, the feminist movement (both of which are relatively new), and the ever-present challenge from the so-called scholars or intellectuals. Our local leaders must deal with all three of them with ever-increasing frequency. In each case, the members who are hurting have the conviction that the Church somehow is doing something wrong to members or that the Church is not doing enough for them. To illustrate, I will quote briefly from letters on each of those subjects. They are chosen from among many letters which have arrived in the last few weeks. These have arrived in just the last few days...

I now mention a fourth group that has reared it's ugly head, race, race, race FREAKS! The more others pour into the U.S. from third world countries, the less those here now have in common, no cohesion like the good old days. That coupled with the rise of the race baiters, race hustlers, ect. have divided America. Two of the many lies they love to identify with, all white people are born as racists, and only white people can be racists. This is just for starters.
I will now ask you something. Have you seen even one current Church leader say anything on the subject of those three issues President Packer warned about just a few decades ago? Scary isn't it?
