A lot of problems, on both sides.
Then Hamas tried getting involved and made things a lot worse.

Hamas in the Gaza Strip launched 140 short range middles at Israeli cities. The Israelis shot most of them down with the “Iron Dome” anti-missile system.
Israel conducted air strikes in Gaza Strip territory. And are now going in with ground forces.
It’s like living in Salt Lake and having an arch enemy up in Centerville, shooting missiles, floating bombs over on balloons and otherwise harassing the folks in downtown Salt Lake.
The Israelis tend to hit back after they get fed up.
