As I said in one of my other posts, I'm by no means a scholar just recently intensely drawn to apocalyptic prophecy and writings. I've been reading Revelations a long with the Joseph smith translation that goes with it and Cleon Skousen the 25 years transcripts. But the one thing that I can seemed to answer who are the 144,000 ppl?. If this has been discussed before I'm sorry I could not find the thread.

The 144,000 are High Priests that will selected from the 12 tribes of Israel (12,000 per tribe) to preach the gospel to the House of Israel. They will be called after the ten tribes come to the New Jerusalem from the North. Some will labor in temples. They will be sealed in their foreheads so that death, plague and pestilence will not affect them. They will actually undergo physical changes in their bodies. See Rev 7:1-8, D&C 77:7-11
