In CA if you wanted a SS card you knew who to contact. This would just be another black market item you can get for a small fee.

It's not the prophet turning against the Lord. It's the members making the prophet their god. Taking everything little thing he says as 'thus saith the Lord'. Claiming he cannot err in his push of the vaxxeen, etc.
That's the kinda stuff talked about here.

You are absolutely right, I really miss the days when we heard often from our Prophets, "Thus saith the Lord"

However, maybe we should count our blessings. In the past, when we heard "Thus saith the Lord", it
was usually followed by some very difficult things for us to do. (Like polygamy, or united order)

We can hear the Lord every day as we seek to do His will and ask for guidance

Here’s something interesting though...

Joseph Smith was sealed to multiple women, but I don’t believe he practiced polygamy in the way the church says. He condemned it publicly even up until he was martyred. Brigham Young is on record as having changed some of the earlier writings, and was the one who practiced polygamy as we know it.

Whether you believe that or not, it’s a matter that I suggest you take to study and prayer. I’m too tired to debate it, label me a looney

According to the Community of Christ (RLDS) who was there at the time, Joseph Smith did not practice polygamy.

No. A year ago I was devout, like you. But the more I tried to follow Christ, the more I saw people I used to look up to that said things that Christ would not say, and do things Christ would not do. So I had to choose between scriptures which I believe are the word of God and people that say they speak for God. The scriptures won.

I don't blame you, it is a wicked old world, and even in the church, there are people
there that don't know Christ at all.

I have good news and bad news for you.
The Good news is that the wicked will soon be destroyed, God's judgement
will come upon them and wipe them from the face of this earth.
The bad news is that we will have to go through some awful times to get there.

During the time he was playing doctor, he had great respect for Big Pharma and the medical community in general. He retired and lived in an LDS bubble. No prophet since Wilford Woodruff has claimed to have spoken with God.

We have been commanded to follow no man. Christ ONLY. Be careful that you do not attribute "Thus saith the Lord" to someone that did not say that.

It seemed like it was left to local leadership though?

Asking people do adhere to a policy to attend or participate in church activities is actually different than mandating that people get a medical procedure done to them.

Joseph Smith said not to depend on a prophet:

Start with the Book of Mormon. The Lord gave it to us specifically to touch the hearts of all
who would listen. Open your heart, and read. Pray to know the truth, He will answer you.

Listen to the Leaders of the Church. They speak to the whole Church twice a year.
They will be speaking to us this April 3rd and 4th. Search online for LDS General Conference.

I am very grateful the priesthood power of God has returned to the earth, His sacred ordinance of
Baptism, and His sacred Temples. Luke, Seek and Ye shall find.

I believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ was restored through Joseph Smith. But I could probably count on one hand the amount of new doctrine that has been taught since his martyr. Joseph spoke to the brethren once and said if he told them all he knew of the kingdom of God they would rise up and kill him, apparently we are still not ready for that new revelation.

As I’ve stated before greatfearerofGod, you can do as you wish and it doesn’t trouble me. But consider putting complete faith and trust in God before you place it in the head of the church. You’ve received a witness at one time that they were right, but a constant and continual witness of truth is necessary.

President Nelson's warning was spot on: [it is] not ... possible to survive spiritually without the guiding, directing, comforting, and constant influence of the Holy Ghost.

I know the apostles have stated many times that they too struggle and need prayers and face the same opposition and temptation that all men face. When people think they are immune to what “we” face they really don’t understand that human is human.

when I make a human decision then it affects only me. When a priesthood LEADER makes a decision it affects from hundreds to thousand of people. People in church priesthood callings have taken that to mean that they can do what they want - from teachers and missionaries to the Apostle. We keep doing the same thing and expecting different results.

I noticed how important the leaders were when we shut down. From Bishops to Prophet - kind of irrelevant, huh. That's what the Lord wanted us to see. He kind of leveled the playing field.
