Judge rules against decertifying BYU Police Department

I am not in favor of the Department of Public Safety even existing, let alone in charge of law enforcement at BYU. So to me, this kind of just puts things back as they already were. I do think that BYU abused their authority by using government info that is private and normally not available to them to discipline sexual abuse victims. Having a police force at ones disposal is asking for corruption as in Obama administration and the FBI.

The article states that:
“Decertification was the right course of action to protect the integrity of law enforcement. Noncompliance with POST investigations erodes all integrity,” Anderson said in a statement.
I don't think law enforcement has any integrity to protect.

Perhaps if law enforcement followed the Constitution and worked for the people as the sheriff is supposed to, instead of being a revenue collection system, I may have a different point of view.

I did not go to BYU and have never had any interaction with their police. Is it necessary for them to exist? And not replaced with state police. I mean does BYU even need any police other than the constitutionally approved sheriff?

I don't think there should be a BYU police department. I thought they were no longer considered police officers because of abusing the privacy of a (date?) rape victim. Being security guards, fine, but they should never have actual police. They are in a city that already has a police force.
