...is secret murders and secret combinations that destroy the government:

3 Nephi 9:9
And behold, that great city Jacobugath, which was inhabited by the people of king Jacob, have I caused to be burned with fire because of their sins and their wickedness, which was above all the wickedness of the whole earth, because of their secret murders and combinations; for it was they that did destroy the peace of my people and the government of the land;
in other words a conspiracy to overthrow the government. In the case of the 33 A.D.-ish, Nephites, the conspiracy was successful.

My second point is: what don't the democrats control as of tonight? Do you have any sources you trust? what would you do if your sources were "Parler-ized" tonight? What if your only source of information was MSM? Even if you voted for Joe Biden or you can't stand Trump, do you trust any group that has absolute power to give you correct information? Where will you go tomorrow for truth about the day's events?

Not saying I have any answers, just food for thought. I'm not even looking for answers at this point - just going to watch things play out. Glad I don't have to choose sides yet. But I think what they do to Trump is a taste of what's to come for the rest of us (yes, lefties - you too).

I'll even make a prediction: What do you bet the breathless chaos going on in DC last week doesn't let up after Jan 20? If Trump miraculously sticks around, hopefully it will be cleanup work (good for freedom). If it's team Biden.......well.....I'll be fishing in my leaky boat.

I was pondering this tribalism during my Saturday morning study. I keep a journal of my thoughts and impressions I will share some of my thoughts I hope they make sense.

In Doctrine and Covenants, 1:5 We see revivalism being the pop-cultural center of social norms and acceptance. This is similar to politics today. All sects (parties) fought, with words, for parishioners. All claiming to have the truth. I find it interesting that Joseph uses the phrasing “Contending For”. Contending For means "to engage in a competition or campaign in order to win or achieve (something)."

In 1:6 we see people choosing a "tribe" and “For, notwithstanding the great love which the converts to these different faiths expressed at the time of their conversion,” we see quickly “yet when the converts began to file off, some to one party and some to another, it was seen that the seemingly good feelings of both the priests and the converts were more pretended than real; for a scene of great confusion and bad feeling ensued—priest contending against priest, and convert against convert; so that all their good feelings one for another, if they ever had any, were entirely lost in a strife of words and a contest about opinions.”

In 1:10 really got the old noodle cooking. Joseph lays out three questions in this verse. I wonder if these questions should be applied to other areas. They are as follows:
1. What is to be done?
2. Who of all these parties are right; or, are they all wrong together?
3. If any one of them be right, which is it, and how shall I know it?
What happens when we use these same questions today about which group we attach ourselves to?

All were CONTENDING saying they had the truth. Truth needs no contending. It stands on its own. It is no respecter of persons.

No such thing as secret combinations, just a crazy conspiracy theory. Pick up your tin foil hat

Mudflap, lucky for you I saw a commercial a while back for a magic waterproof glue that can fix any leaky boat! Order any time by any of big tech companies you love (Amazon, Google, Apple), but buy it before they remove your account.

thinking about the big tech folks deplatforming me - go ahead. all their stuff sucks anyway. But you make a good point - what if they cut off access to your finances? how hard would it be with Joe's 2001 patriot act? How easy was it to stuff $600 in your account if you filed online with the IRS in 2020? I mean, poof! and the monopoly money was there. Imagine the "poof!" - but in reverse because you post pro-gun stuff on FB, or you are in some "patriot group" on FB, or you took a picture holding a gun at some point.

got a strong enough local network to survive? how many months could you make that $1200 house payment for that new house in that Sunrise subdivision or whatever it's called? what if walmart declines your debit card? What if your bank refuses deposits or withdrawals?

This is brilliant...Joseph’s experience seeking truth is a type and shadow for our day. Thanks for sharing.
