Re: Martial Law starts next week
I'm hearing a lot of similar chatter. I guess we'll see what happens, but at the very least this is a time of "heightened concern".
I try to filter out the conspiracy crazy and listen to people that appear to have good intel and a good track record. That said, I have made plenty of mistakes in that regard.
Anyone that can nonchalantly watch as what is happening bigly in social media, including the apparent need to shut down Parler (which is so fringe right now) I just can't understand how these conspiracy facts are not making alarm bells go off for anyone regardless of your politics.
Love him, hate him or don't care - the PRESIDENT of the United States has been essentially silenced. Even if you like the fact that he is silenced because you don't like what he has to say - this power structure that has the power to do this should be alarming to anyone with a shred of sense. Yes I know all the b.s. fig leaves i.e. that Trump presents a danger to society by inciting violence - well, I suspect there will be two groups, those that feel that Trump incited the "invasion of the Capitol" and therefore you probably support him being silenced, and everyone else.
All I will say if you fear the power of Trump, you should consider the power that can curate information to the degree that the President can be silenced - if you don't see the danger, I am not sure what I can say that will convince you.
I am semi expecting a complete internet outage within the next two weeks and Trump addressing the nation via the Emergency Broadcast System. SEMI expecting. Regardless, having a minimum of 30 days worth of supplies on hand is never a bad idea.

Trump's words sell and are profitable. All he would need to do is call up some news stations saying he had a message to get out and he'd have reporters there. Then like always, the hundreds of outlets borrow the same stories from each other and repeat whatever was said.Original_Intent wrote: ↑January 10th, 2021, 9:14 am I'm hearing a lot of similar chatter. This would explain why they were getting us all used to following orders last year with the stay at home mandate.

Re: Martial Law starts next week
The word I have from a trusted source is that the Insurrection Act was signed by Trump last night.
If nothing else this will be a good gut check for me to verify if this source is as good as he has appeared to be.
Same source says that he can't guarantee, but do not be surprised to see General Flynn replace Pence as VP. I'll emphasize on this item my source says this is speculation. The Insurrection Act item he presents as 100% fact. He is also saying that much will continue to go on behind the scenes, it may be Jan 19 before actions become more open.
Trust me, I can relate to the "roll eyes, they just continue to string these conspiracy theories of 'something is about to happen, ANY DAY NOW, we promise'" I've got a large amount of skepticism on this. But, this is a source I have followed for a while and who has, for me, a good signal to noise ratio. So we will see.

Done been did in Tralfamadorian, except doubling down on God and skipping the silly gun. A plan is in place to be prepared for almost anything 9 months from now. Which will likely do. In the mean time I’ll just trust in God as that’s always the best thing to do. But, indeed do what you think best.

Re: Martial Law starts next week
I'm just trying to step back, remove my partisan filter, and take a look at the facts.
China has for the past couple of decades been buying up pretty much all of our media.
https://www.theamericanconservative.com ... can-media/
A year ago a virus originated in China with rumors that it came from a Chinese lab
This appeared to be confirmed by a Chinese whistleblower who fled to this country over the summer.
https://www.foxnews.com/media/chinese-v ... oronavirus
The lab that the virus likely originated from received $3.7m in funding from the US.
https://www.businesstoday.in/current/ec ... 00831.html
Over the summer there was civil unrest and riots. The funding appears to have come from China.
https://thefederalist.com/2020/09/16/ch ... -ventures/
There was overwhelming election fraud. Dozens if not hundreds of documented examples. it is very well documented. See the Georgia senate report, look at the Italian Whistleblower affidavit, or look around here. It was not just domestic fraud. Foreign actors were involved. There was also a widespread attempt to dismiss it or cover it up by both Republicans and Democrats as well as pressure to certify the results in various states in spite of the widespread fraud.
On Jan 6 when the joint session of Congress met to certify the election, more than 100 congresspeople and several senators announced support to dispute the election. Suddenly the capital was stormed by a mix of Trump supporters and known Antifa Activists. Video shows the capital police not only letting them in but motioning for them to go in. The senators and congresspeople were whisked away to a "secure location" It is unknown what they saw or were told while in this secure location but afterwards 100% of the senators were suddenly opposed to disputing the election and only a few congresspeople put up token resistance.
The VP who was almost universally trusted and respected by conservatives up to Jan 6 suddenly announced that he would certify the election and unfollowed Trump on Twitter after the invasion of the capitol building.
Over the weekend Wikileaks dumps most or all of everything they have.
Social media has not only banned most high profile conservatives but has shut down Parler.
Widespread power outages today.
I am probably missing half of it. I just tried to put together a quick list. I doubt all of this is just a random string of coincidences.

Re: Martial Law starts next week
If you posted this out of genuine concern for us, and you actually wanted people to do this because you believed it, then I think you should have provided more information at the very least. Too many people have cried wolf like this countless times. Some of these things are easy to do for longterm anyway... but withdrawing all the money from the bank because someone on an internet forum told me there was going to be Martial Law next week is a bit absurd. And I'm a prepper.

What harm is there in doing any of this out of an abundance of caution?bbsion wrote: ↑January 10th, 2021, 10:30 amIf you posted this out of genuine concern for us, and you actually wanted people to do this because you believed it, then I think you should have provided more information at the very least. The gas will get used anyway. So will the food. Good luck getting an AR-15 and Ammo right now.
It never hurts to have 30 days of prescriptions.
You should have all of this stuff anyway. Nobody can dispute that we live in uncertain times.

That's why I said some of these things are easy to do for longterm anyway. As more of a prepper, I already have done most of these things. The one I specifically mentioned was absurd is withdrawing everything from the bank. I think the harm in doing this, claiming something extreme like martial law and withdrawing all of your money, is like crying wolf yet again. At least provide a little bit of reason why you think people should believe Martial Law will be declared next week. Literally anything. Even just your opinion on the current news going around would be better than just saying Martial Law IS going to start next week. That's almost fearmongering and it's counterproductive.markharr wrote: ↑January 10th, 2021, 10:32 amWhat harm is there in doing any of this out of an abundance of caution?bbsion wrote: ↑January 10th, 2021, 10:30 amIf you posted this out of genuine concern for us, and you actually wanted people to do this because you believed it, then I think you should have provided more information at the very least. I interpreted it as withdraw $, not all of your $ but have some cash on hand. Maybe the OP didn't intend it that way.bbsion wrote: ↑January 10th, 2021, 10:56 amThat's why I said some of these things are easy to do for longterm anyway. He did not say to withdraw ALL your money from your bank. There are some people who don’t have even $10 in cash, and they should withdraw some cash in case their credit/debit cards down work.bbsion wrote: ↑January 10th, 2021, 10:56 amThat's why I said some of these things are easy to do for longterm anyway. I knew a couple where she would keep about $500 in cash in her car, and the same in cash at home. Her husband would travel cross-country with less than $10 cash.

Adding to my list above.
On more than one occasion over the past year, Xi has told his troops to prepare for war. Including on Jan 6 where he told them to prepare for war at any time.

Thats fair, the OP did not say all of the cash. I still feel like there was a better approach if they genuinely wanted people to actually do what they suggested. Thats my main point. Sorry if I sucked at getting that across.

I've just been corrected that the "blackout" will be an attempted information blackout, not necessarily a complete power outage.

This is just good advice in general...
I say follow it. If you don't have it already.
