Jail Terms Await Capitol Protesters Convicted of Sedition

What is sedition? US Capitol breach was 'almost textbook' example, legal expert says
https://www.yahoo.com/news/sedition-us- ... 57135.html

The supporters of President Donald Trump who breached the U.S. Capitol building on Wednesday may face charges of sedition, legal experts say.

The U.S. center of power became a scene of outright chaos Wednesday as supporters made their way past barricades, broke in through windows and sent representatives into hiding during a session of debate over election certification. The assault on the Capitol came shortly after a rally for the president, who continued to levy baseless claims that the election was rigged and told the crowd they would "never concede."-

Sedition? Ha, that is laughable. Unfortunately, some might be convicted by the courts. Get a good jury, though, and... not a chance.

The USA could use a little bit more sedition if you ask me. No one in power has followed the constitution in decades. It's about time for the citizens to be a bit more seditious.

Even Trump called for their prosecution, not that it makes any difference in anyone's opinion of him or the rioters.

Yep reason I told someone I would never go to a "rally" in a democrat lead city. They will throw you under the jail and ruin your lives. Just to make an example out of you.

From a progressive Mormon on the Wheat and Tares blog. TL:DR? They want you to face church discipline for promoting conspiracy theories.

———————————————-
“It’s hard not to interpret the FP unwillingness to make a direct statement as cowardice and a failure to show meaningful moral leadership. Sure, you can point to the DHO statement from conference, but why not reference it in a direct statement from the FP condemning the specific attack? Why not direct local leaders to carry out church discipline for any member who was involved in Wednesday’s attack and warn members that continuing to spread false claims about election fraud or being involved in armed attacks against democratically-elected governments will subject them to church discipline? After four years of mostly pandering to Trump and given that the majority of Mountain West Mormons back Trump and his fraudulent claims, its hard not to believe that the reluctance to make a real statement comes from a preference by many in the Q15 for Trump to remain as President despite his loss. Or at least because they recognize that so many of the US local leaders support Trump’s attempts to overthrow the elections that they are afraid those leaders will stop carrying out other church edicts if they make a strong statement condemning conspiracy promoters and insurrectionists.“

Fair is fair.....I would like to see them face church discipline for promoting gay marriage as holy and blessed.
