Trump's second impeachment - effort to get him to resign

"House Democrats are drafting new articles of impeachment against President Trump following a deadly riot at the Capitol Wednesday in a failed attempt to stop Congress from certifying Joe Biden's presidential victory."

...

"It is the hope of Members that the President will immediately resign," Pelosi said in a statement Friday. "But if he does not, I have instructed the Rules Committee to be prepared to move forward with Congressman Jamie Raskin’s 25th Amendment legislation and a motion for impeachment. Accordingly, the House will preserve every option – including the 25th Amendment, a motion to impeach or a privileged resolution for impeachment."

It is all theater right now. They have unchecked power and they know it.

Except they kind of don't.

Trump still has time, and they are terrified of what he might do or try.

I'm not so sure. They supposedly won two big elections and Trump is supposed to be out in 11 days, they should be elated and celebrating but instead it looks to me like they're panicking and desperately trying to remove Trump before it's too late. Too late for what though? He's gonna be gone in a matter of days so what exactly are they afraid of?

That he will run again in 2024

I don't expect it. Trump will be 78 years old in 2024. That will not be accepted.

I suspect he will be a major supporter of some one else. Maybe a family member.

I really wonder if we will even have an opportunity to elect someone other than a Democrat in 2024, given what will transpire during the coming four years.

That's how old Biden is now.
