Another strange thing in the news yesterday is that scientists think “dark matter” might not even exist anymore, and are trying to figure out way to adjust gravity equations to understand why the universe is moving contrary to the way they think it should be.captainfearnot wrote: ↑January 7th, 2021, 9:34 am This is super cool, but technically liquid glass would not be a fifth natural state of matter. It would be more like a seventh natural sub-state in addition to the six already recognized.
Under solids we have amorphous solids, crystalline solids, plastic crystals, and quasi-crystals. Under liquids we have liquid crystals and non-Newtonian fluids. Glass has long been considered an amorphous solid (or sometimes a liquid crystal) but this research suggests that neither properly accounts for its unique properties, warranting a new sub-state on its own.
Of course, if we're counting all the non-natural states, then we're up to like thirty now.
Many facets of the electric universe theory will over time be confirmed and accepted as part of the prevailing understanding of the universe. However, they will be called something different and treated as something newly discovered by socially acceptable scientists. No credit will be given to those wackjobs who believe in electric universe theory.Lexew1899 wrote: ↑January 7th, 2021, 9:57 amAnother strange thing in the news yesterday is that scientists think “dark matter” might not even exist anymore, and are trying to figure out way to adjust gravity equations to understand why the universe is moving contrary to the way they think it should be.captainfearnot wrote: ↑January 7th, 2021, 9:34 am This is super cool, but technically liquid glass would not be a fifth natural state of matter. I was reading a few articles that were from several years ago trying to knock the electric universe theory, saying that it discounted the possibility of dark matter and relied instead on highways of energy pulling and tugging on each other like magnets.

I agree, it seems to be very difficult to get people to understand that science does not make truth claims. All it does is gather evidence.
