Homeopathy

I just got a great new book on homeopathy. I worry that in a time of catastrophe we will be unable to get much conventional medical help and I'd like to be able to be as self-reliant as possible in this situation. We may not always have access to a pharmacy, or even a doctor that can write us a prescription for something we need. That's not even mentioning the fact that so much of modern medicine is questionably good for us anyway.

So...after that long intro, I am just wondering how many here are familiar with homeopathy and what your impression of it is. According to this book, it is much more effective and a lot safer, but it's reputation was tarnished by conventional doctors forming the AMA to make homeopathy look bad and dangerous, not regulated, etc (which wouldn't surprise me). I am really interested in buying some basic homeopathic supplies and starting to use it more. What are your recommendations?

What I understand about homeopathy is that it is very safe but that being said, you really have to have the right remedy or it is ineffective. I'd probably want to go see a good classical homeopathic practitioner to figure out my remedies before I stocked up on anything. But I've heard great healing stories if given the right remedy.
