Well, on my phone, the second image that shows up on the Church web site is, “Grow Into the Principle of Revelation.” Its a fabulous article that spells out explicitly how to do it. And member prophets is a well-known principle that traces back to Moses and has been discussed freely, at least wherever I have lived. No, for heaven’s sake. He is just unhappy that they aren’t putting out more amazing and flashy stuff, and I was trying to think of an extreme example of something flashy.
My point is simply that he is using the fact that they are guileless against them, to accuse them. It is perfectly possible that the Lord has nothing new and flashy for us at this point, and they make no pretense to try to seem that they are more than they really are. I think it’s a good thing, but some people want to be perpetually awed, I suppose.
you're essentially unable (or unwilling) to provide any concrete examples of the current 15 teaching the doctrine that members of the church can be prophets? Do I have that right?

I’m just looking for a quote from the current 15 where they state that members can be prophets, that’s all. Just a direct quote where they use the words member and prophet. I stated that pretty clearly in my first post.Allison wrote: ↑January 8th, 2021, 7:41 amWell, on my phone, the second image that shows up on the Church web site is, “Grow Into the Principle of Revelation.” Its a fabulous article that spells out explicitly how to do it. Ok, so... what I'm hearing is this:
you're essentially unable (or unwilling) to provide any concrete examples of the current 15 teaching the doctrine that members of the church can be prophets? Do I have that right?
No one is denying personal revelation (like I mentioned in my original post). If personal revelation means you’re a prophet, then anyone who God has revealed that the BoM is true to is a prophet. That’s a lot of people. There are literally millions (maybe even billions) of prophets on the earth right now, if that’s true.
Additionally, anyone who joined the church bc God told them its true and then fell away are fallen prophets, since they’ve went against the revelation they received from God. That’s literally millions of people too.
I get what you’re saying but what you’re suggesting or alluding to is disingenuous. It’s not truthful. Where does a member of the current 15 (not Moses who was part of a different dispensation) explicitly teach that growing into the principle of revelation makes you a prophet? I’m asking for a direct quote. Just quote anywhere in the talk you mentioned where Nelson talks about members being prophets.....

Re: The brethren will get the vaccine as soon as possible
"The leaders of these people have misled them, and those who are led are confused” (Isaiah 9:13–16).
"they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch"
"O you deaf, listen; O you blind, look and see! seeing much but not giving heed, with open ears hearing nothing?” (Isaiah 42:17–20).
10 For the Lord hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets,
and your rulers, the seers hath he covered.
13 Wherefore the Lord said,
Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:
9 Stay yourselves, and wonder; cry ye out, and cry: they are drunken, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with strong drink.
Isaiah 29
Watchmen that don't watch but are asleep.
Idolatry always has resulted in captivity.
The saints are taken captive and put in bondage for their idolatry.
*** (see scriptures at bottom)
The people’s biggest problem, ancient and end-time, is their idolatry—their infatuation with the things of this world:
“Their land is full of silver and gold and there is no end to their wealth; their land is full of horses and there is no end to their chariots.
Their land is full of idols: they adore the works of their hands, things their own fingers have made” (Isaiah 2:7–8; compare 2:20; 17:7–8; 27:9; 30:22; 31:7; 44:15; 48:4–5).
As it grows widespread, this preoccupation with material things generates spiritual blindness, an inability by God’s people to discern the new reality—that their religion has morphed from what God had revealed—that it has made a fundamental shift into a belief system that displaces the power of God with the precepts of men, thereby failing to fulfill people’s spiritual needs.
Of this generational backsliding, the people and their leaders are thus entirely unaware:
“Jehovah has poured out on you a spirit of deep sleep: he has shut your eyes, the prophets; he has covered your heads, the seers” (Isaiah 29:10);
“Those who trust in idols and esteem their images as gods shall retreat in utter confusion.
O you deaf, listen; O you blind, look and see! Who is blind but my own servant, or so deaf as the messenger I have sent? Who is blind like those I have commissioned, as uncomprehending as the servant of Jehovah—seeing much but not giving heed, with open ears hearing nothing?” (Isaiah 42:17–20).
A kind of delusion sets in among ecclesiastical leader as the people subscribe to the new narrative that merely perpetuates the status quo: “These too have indulged in wine and are giddy with strong drink: priests and prophets have gone astray through liquor. They are intoxicated with wine and stagger because of strong drink; they err as seers, they blunder in their decisions. For all tables are filled with vomit; no spot is without excrement. Whom shall he give instruction? Whom shall he enlighten with revelation? Weanlings weaned from milk, those just taken from the breast? For it is but line upon line, line upon line, precept upon precept, precept upon precept; a trifle here, a trifle there” (Isaiah 28:7–10);
“Their watchmen are altogether blind and unaware; all of them are but dumb watchdogs unable to bark, lolling seers fond of slumber. Gluttonous dogs, and insatiable, such indeed are insensible shepherds. They are all diverted to their own way, every one after his own advantage. ‘Come, [they say,]let us get wine and have our fill of liquor.
For tomorrow will be like today, only far better!’” (Isaiah 56:10–12).
When a spirit of self-sufficiency follows the people’s prosperity, spiritual standards grow lax and predatory practices prevail: “How the faithful city has become a harlot! She was filled with justice; righteousness made its abode in her, but now murderers. Your silver has become dross, your wine diluted with water. Your rulers are renegades, accomplices of robbers: with one accord they love bribes and run after rewards; they do not dispense justice to the fatherless, nor does the widow’s case come before them” (Isaiah 1:21–23); “The godless utter blasphemy; their heart ponders impiety: how to practice hypocrisy and preach perverse things concerning Jehovah, leaving the hungry soul empty, depriving the thirsty [soul]of drink. And rogues scheme by malevolent means and insidious devices to ruin the poor, and with false slogans and accusations to denounce the needy” (Isaiah 32:6–7).
God responds by calling his people to account, subjecting them to the curses of his covenant instead of pouring out his blessings: “He will bring to trial the elders of his people and their rulers, [and say to them,] ‘It is you who have devoured the vineyard; you fill your houses by depriving the needy. What do you mean by oppressing my people, humbling the faces of the poor?’ says Jehovah of Hosts” (Isaiah 3:14–15); “But the people do not turn back to him who smites them, nor will they inquire of Jehovah of Hosts. Therefore Jehovah will cut off from Israel head and tail, palm top and reed, in a single day; the elders or notables are the head, the prophets who teach falsehoods, the tail.
The leaders of these people have misled them, and those who are led are confused” (Isaiah 9:13–16).

D&C 103
15 "Behold, I say unto you, the redemption of Zion must needs come by power;
16 Therefore, I will raise up unto my people a man, who shall lead them like as Moses led the children of Israel.
17 For ye are the children of Israel, and of the seed of Abraham,
and ye must needs be led out of bondage by power, and with a stretched-out arm.
18 And as your fathers were led at the first, even so shall the redemption of Zion be."
If you study this 28th chapter of Isaiah
it will reveal that every word applies to our church in these days
and to no other people.
Isaiah cites that this people would be given "precept upon precept;
precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little and there a little."
These identical words, were used by the Prophet Joseph Smith among his closing instructions to the latter day saints, warning us to go forward not backward. D.C.128:21-22 ; 2Nephi 28:30
Isaiah 28:13
"But the word of the Lord was unto them
precept upon precept, precept upon precept;
line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little;
that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken,
and snared, and taken."
"Instead of receiving a greater portion of the “word of Jehovah” through divine revelation, the people of Ephraim remain ensconced in its lesser version as that is all they know. The end result is their ruination: “Sanctify Jehovah of Hosts, making him your fear, him your awe. And [to you] he will be a sanctuary, but to the two houses of Israel a stumbling block or obstructing rock, and a snare, catching unawares the inhabitants of Jerusalem. Many will stumble into them, and when they fall shall be broken, and when they become ensnared shall be taken captive” (Isaiah 8:13-15; cf. 5:13; 42:18-25).
Isaiah 28
14 Therefore hear the word of Jehovah, you scoffers
who preside over these people in Jerusalem.
15 You have supposed, by taking refuge in deception
and hiding behind falsehoods,
to have covenanted with Death,
or reached an understanding with Sheol, that,
should a flooding scourge sweep through the earth,
it shall not reach you.
By seeking “refuge in deception” instead of in Jehovah (Isaiah 4:6; 25:4), and by “hiding behind falsehoods” instead of acknowledging the truth (Isaiah 9:15; 32:6), Ephraim’s leaders rely on their own counsel as epitomized by a “Covenant with Death.” Such a policy leads to death at the hands of Jehovah’s agent of death, the king of Assyria/Babylon, in Jehovah’s Day of Judgment.
Having turned into scoffers of Jehovah’s word, they think to escape the “flooding scourge”—the power of the archtyrant (v 2). Rejecting Jehovah’s Covenant of Life (Isaiah 55:3), they end up in Sheol—Hell or the underworld.
"they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch"
"O you deaf, listen; O you blind, look and see! seeing much but not giving heed, with open ears hearing nothing?” (Isaiah 42:17–20).

Prophets prophesy; that's what the do. that's why they're called prophets.
Pres. Nelson IS NOT A PROPHET simply because he does not prophesy.

Suffering exhaustion I slept soon after reading your post, but wished to reply. Hours later I woke to Melancholy Man, and just now another song about ultraviolet and x-rays too.
Both color spectrums are apart of my life story. Most here likely have experienced the effect of the suns rays, and an occasional x-ray. After about two weeks laying about the shores of Kauai, I thought my tan was sufficiently dark that sun exposure was no longer a concern. Boy was I wrong, I spent the next few days sheltered away with an intense sunburn. Wasn’t really bad, but likely worse than most people experience.
Anyways, finding your post proved difficult, so I thought, “your name begins with A”. Clicking the members link at the bottom I spied said name, and next to it some stats.
127 1st Avenue was where I resided for about 2 years, but had to abandon the “fort”, as I fondly called it. Apartment number 13 no less. I’ll simply drop FF8000, as I’m to lazy to properly color code some text. Colors are frequencies. And our eyes recognize different colors that differ by less than 0.00000001% in the frequency domain.
Transforming stuff from the frequency domain, into the time domain is something my lazy self doesn’t even want to think about at the moment, so I’m like outta here.

Re: The brethren will get the vaccine as soon as possible
Perhaps we fail to understand how we can become prophets. The Book of Mormon is full of examples of individual Christians with the gift of prophecy. If we were all equally worthy of the gift of prophecy, we would "be ONE". We would know by that gift - "right from wrong; truth from error". The Spirit would confirm the truthfulness of what is said by Ordained Church Leadership.
Being told to refrain from having more than 'one piercing per ear' isn't what I would consider Prophecy. Perhaps sincerely advised, but unnecessary to anyone in close contact with the Holy Ghost herself/himself.
Arguing over whether or not we are being encouraged to become worthy of being prophets/prophetesses suggests, to me, that perhaps more work on becoming worthy to be prophets/prophetesses is required! https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/stu ... 2?lang=eng

Joel 2
27 And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the Lord your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed.
28 ¶ And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:
29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.
30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.
31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the Lord come.
32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the Lord hath said, and in the remnant whom the Lord shall call.

2 And they all cried with one voice, saying: Yea, we believe all the words which thou hast spoken unto us; and also, we know of their surety and truth, because of the Spirit of the Lord Omnipotent, which has wrought a mighty change in us, or in our hearts, that we have no more disposition to do evil, but to do good continually.
3 And we, ourselves, also, through the infinite goodness of God, and the manifestations of his Spirit, have great views of that which is to come; and were it expedient, we could prophesy of all things.
4 And it is the faith which we have had on the things which our king has spoken unto us that has brought us to this great knowledge, whereby we do rejoice with such exceedingly great joy.

I don’t understand what post you are referring to, maybe the one above the latest two by you.buffalo_girl wrote: ↑January 8th, 2021, 12:04 pm BeNotDeceived ~ WHY would you make public a previous post which appears ONLY to be used to discredit the author's point-of-view on this particular discussion?
My intent wasn’t to discredit anyone, but rather provide an example of what they were saying.
Coincidences spoken of by Elder Bednar are one type of anomaly, that may yield clues. Seems intuitive and many speak about recognizing the significance of things such as that. Said apostle refers to them as “tender mercies of the Lord”. They’re much easier to share than the spirit over vast distances.
Speaking of a burning bosom, it never happened for me, although I recently had a burning leg. Anyway please supply particulars about what you are asking about.

Please explain to me HOW this post applies to whether or not individual members of Christ's Church have inherent potential for the 'gift of prophecy' by means of proven worthiness.
Who exactly is the author of this post? Is it you?

Yea, that’s what I wrote, not so much about prophecy, but rather amazing understanding of scriptures that identifies that the seventh seal opened in 2010. It ties in with the unusual time, place and presence of my patriarchal blessing. The small building was the Brigham Apartments when I lived there. Calling it the fort seemed no exaggeration as even the interior walls were over a foot thick.buffalo_girl wrote: ↑January 8th, 2021, 1:48 pm BeNotDeceived ~

Out my back window I could see a barn shaped building, that too was converted into an apartment building. It was a great place to live, and I only gave it up when I was forced /sarc/ to go get hitched in the Fern Grotto to my Hawaiian sweetheart. Anomalies there too were abundant, serving as witness that what we were doing, was indeed a wise move. Ended up our wedding was on the Sabaoth of Sabbaths aka the tenth day of the seventh month. That was several years before said revelation by said PSR.
Anyone that has the opportunity, should pay a visit to the small graveyard across the street, where Bother Brigham was laid to rest. Time and frequency transforms are a real thing from higher mathematics, for those skilled in the art of electrical engineering, if you’re wondering about that too.

Oh, I must have missed it. Do you mind providing an actual quotation of them teaching it? Like a quote from a talk they gave? In which they talk about members being prophets?
Prophets prophesy; that's what the do. that's why they're called prophets.
Pres. Nelson IS NOT A PROPHET simply because he does not prophesy.
"President Nelson is anything but prophetic"

On the other hand however - The Lord is pouring out His spirit, and there are many prophets right now prophesying.
The Acts of the Apostles
Chapter 2
17 And it shall come to pass in the last days,
saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh:
and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
and your young men shall see visions,
and your old men shall dream dreams:
18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens
I will pour out in those days of my Spirit;
and they shall prophesy:

And, in order to qualify as a prophet, at what intervals do the prophecies need to be produced? Annually? Semi-annually? Only one per lifetime? Does one lose prophet status if too much time goes between prophecies? Who says so?
Nephi probably isn’t the only one. Will have to check them all against your requirement.

In fact, as many vaccines as are available. If the missionary doesn’t want a certain vax, he can’t serve in an area that requires that vax. That will soon be the whole world for the covid hoax vax.Silver Pie wrote: ↑January 8th, 2021, 5:26 pmYep.ampeterlin wrote: ↑January 8th, 2021, 12:57 pm Did the church just announce that missionaries will be receiving the vaccine as well?
