Ward magazine

I thought I'd share this page from our ward magazine (Jan 2009).
Recently, Elder L. Tom Perry of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles taught:
"Acquire and store a reserve of food and supplies that will sustain life. . . . As long as I canremember, we have been taught to prepare for the future and to obtain a year's supply of necessities. I would guess that the years of plenty have almost universally caused us to setaside this counsel. I believe the time to disregard this counsel is over. With events in theworld today, it must be considered with all seriousness" ("If Ye Are Prepared Ye Shall Not
Fear," Ensign, Nov. 1995, 36).
In this time of economic turmoil it might be worth checking out a few websites:

WE HAVE BEEN WARNED – ARE WE LISTENING?
In 1977, I visited Salt Lake City, on holiday, and was told a true story by a member of the
Church who attended the meeting in question.
He said that President Spencer W Kimball entered the meeting he was attending and sat on the stand. Sacrament was served and business attended to.
Then he was introduced to the congregation and stood up to give his sermon.
He asked all those with a one year food supply to please put up their hands.
About three or four people in the congregation put up their hands.
President Kimball simply said, “You don’t want to listen to me!”…and sat down again!
Perhaps one of the strongest sermons he has ever given.
Everyone got the message!
Have WE been listening? If Elder Monson visited our Ward – would he sit down too?
To re-use a quote used earlier in the CLIK ….
‘All that is necessary for the triumph of evil, is that good men do
nothing’ – Edmund Burke
