I think I posted on this before. Some elements were also predicted in a Dean Koontz novel, although apparently in a second edition.

I especially like that ‘jet stream’ bit.

Unobstructed skies reveal persistent spreading & unfurling of white tanker-jet spew on a regular basis with subsequent outbreaks of hoarse coughing in the population. Probably unrelated.
