Interesting. On the surface and the way surveillance & information gathering of people is described to predict & prevent crime - sounds good. However, the surveillance of the surveillance is limited - as is regulation. In the hands of dysfunctional people &/or during insane panic (as with covid, person getting arrested for going to a park) - this could be used against us.
On a similar note, I just watched the following video about surveillance marketing and how internet data is collected to anticipate what we may want to buy. It even explained how it discovered a woman was pregnant before she & her dad even knew - & was sending them baby product ads. As she explains, although surveillance marketing has been going on 20 years, it’s still new and thus few have fought to regulate it. Democracy has been around a lot longer - so we have a good chance of winning this battle - especially for the sake of the future.
