760 Million People On Lockdown!

Please don't clickbait. I honestly see it everywhere, including on this forum. Its getting tiresome.

What was "click bait" about the video he posted? It's the same thing I've been hearing from people like Dr. John Campbell who are definitely NOT fearmongers or tin-foil hat conspiracy theorists.

I appreciate the posters here who share the things they find. I am adult enough to decide what I believe. The people here at LDSFF are not the run-of-the-mill lemmings who only listen to KSL news and only read Deseret news.

Seems like it would have fit nicely in this thread - viewtopic.php?f=1&t=53689 - with an explanation of how 740 million people on "lockdown" might add to the destabilizing nature of the outbreak.

lol, Brian. The reason I said its clickbait is because 760M people is about 3/4ths the entire population of China. While I can easily see China quarantining a large area, I don't think it reached the point where they'd lockdown literally 75% of their population. Thus, It's quite likely that the title is grossly overexaggerating the number of people who have been put into lockdown. Blowing these things out of proportion is only gonna cause more issues and more panic.

What do we really know about the situation though? Is all the info coming through Chinese government controlled media sources? or is there independent verification? Is that even a thing in China? Are there any independent/rogue media sources?

In China, I don't think we will ever know the full scope unless a new government comes in. There is enough video proof that it's bad... Unless you can claim the videos are deep fakes, which is possible but man that would be tough and if true we should just bag it now bc we all screwed if we can't even trust videos now.

Outside of China, Singapore is doing a great job of being transparent.

Very true, I was more meaning if you are prepared then when everyone else panics you can be inside with a rifle for anyone that comes near. Wait until this calm down a bit.

Being prepared is the best way to stave off panic.

Their population is over 1.4 billion. This isn't 75%. More like half. 55% live in urban areas. It is pretty reasonable to believe that hundreds of millions are on some sort of lockdown.

Comparisons to the flu just do not match at all for this. At the LOW end, this thing has a mortality rate of 2%. Which means IF 45 million people were infected with this 900k would die. About 20% of those who get this are in serious or critical condition, or IF 45 million were infected, 9 million would be critically ill.

There is a reason why the medical community states that the VIRUS is SARS-COV-2 and the DISEASE is COVID-19. It's because this thing is looong duration. To go from infected to sick, to critically ill to well enough to be released takes over a month! Think of it like HIV and AIDS. HIV is the virus, the disease is AIDS. It's also way so few of the cases have been resolved. It just takes a loooong time to resolve them.

You just can't compare this to the flu. There is also new evidence from those who have died that this disease causes scaring in the lungs-which means if you recover from it, you much have long lasting ill affects. This sucker is nasty.

China would NOT risk the world seeing and hearing about their brutal tactics to lock-down their cities, unless they were scared witless of this.

Exactly, that's the key to understanding the "lockdown" thing. "Lockdown" gives the impression of outright quarantine, which it isn't. 760 million people aren't locked in their apartments. It's probably more like 60-80 million in an actual quarantine, which is huge, and the rest have varying levels of restrictions to their travel.
