The Watchers - Book of Enoch

A recent PM conversation with a member of the forum encouraged me to consider the Book of Enoch. This sounded interesting so I did.
I found it absolutely fascinating, particularly the account of the Watchers, the Giants, and Enoch's journey to heaven with a petition to plead on their behalf for mercy - which was unsuccessful.
I found the whole account to have the ring of truth, and wondered whether any on the forum have any information or comments they would like to contribute.

i recommend michael heiser. i find him to be the best at articulating the proper biblical worldview about the three great tragedies in history (gen 3, gen 6, gen 11), and how upon dividing the languages among the various peoples, those languages and territories of inheritance correspond with the number of the sons of god.
in other words, since the people at babel basically rejected yhwh as their god he was like "fine" and assigned his "sons" to the various groups as their tribal patron deities, as moses says plainly -
deut 32
When the Most High gave to the nations their inheritance, when he divided mankind, he fixed the borders of the peoples according to the number of the sons of God.
so god does that and then says "ok i'm gonna start over with this man abram" till eventually the seed of the woman came (which was what in reality drove the entire watcher - nephilim narrative, to prevent there being a pure bloodline for jesus to be born to) in jesus, who after his resurrection obtained all dominion over all nations. watchers / sons of god / fallen angels, i think basically = satan's version of the "true messengers" promised to adam. i think they literally belong to that same, older generation of jehovah, of peter james & john, of lucifer and these various "sons of god". i feel like they belong to an older generation than me.

My thoughts on it.
1. Enoch was a pretty stalwart, strong and just all around amazing guy who's testimony and faith was strong enough that Fallen angels came to ask him to plead their cause.
2. It's possible for angels to fall, and gods to fall. Jesus wont because he's a good god who chooses humility rather than pride. Agency.
3. I felt sad for the watchers. I honestly felt pretty bad about their fate, but it was brought upon by their own doings.
One of them was consigned to a fate of being on sharp rocks forever blindfolded with darkness around him.
I mean that's awful, and I know God wouldn't do that to someone who's a good person, or even a slightly rebellious person, so these watchers must have been pretty evil.
4. They shared mysteries which they werent supposed to share. Granted they're not big mysteries, but they were still supposed to be secret. This can tie into a lot of things, like it shows their hearts.
5. Be such a boss spiritually that fallen angels would want to come to YOU to have you plead their cause haha

I've read it. It's got a lot of interesting symbolism in it. I think it makes more sense viewed as mostly symbolic.

It's hard for me to not take it as literal.
I get a lot of it sounds ridiculous, but our whole religion sounds nuts.
I mean... our belief in the pre-existence reads like a fantasy.
The resurrection, the final war with Satan after the millennium.... our immortality in perfect bodies.... Worlds Without End.
All these things are literal events... and they're more outlandish than anything in the Book of Enoch.
I'm very confident the Watchers and UFO phenomenon are connected.

So, are the watchers good or bad?

bad. satan caused the fall, causing men to become bad.
then the watchers came and taught men how to be much better at being bad. gasoline on the fire.
make no mistake in thinking such forces are dormant either, modern computers were inspired by spirits through lsd use, transistor technology and the birth of rocket science is the result of satanic rituals, etc., ceremonial divination and entheogen preparation being just a few of the many wonderful things the watchers passed on to mankind.
and then you have the inappropriate union of heaven and earth, sons of god taking wives of daughters of men. an interesting inversion from sodom w/ lot and the angels and the sex-crazed mob - when the earthly wanted to take the heavenly.
i'd like to know more about the woman semjaza chose. if the angels in genesis 18 visited abraham before sodom, she would be the correlating abraham-figure.

I think Enoch might be just as true as Genesis.
