I got my nick name from my fellow fighter buddies in the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism a medieval recreation group). I am old enough to be their father so they call me, “Old Man”. I don’t mind since I can still kick most of their buts. :) Dalton is my “Persona” name in the SCA. I’ve been a member for 18 years. If you’re looking for a group to learn how to live without modern conveniences, join the SCA or at least check out the associated web sites. Since joining I have learned how to make medieval; armor, weapons, clothing, shoes, tents, etc. You also get to learn how to use muscle power weapons; swords, axes, spears, bows/x-bows, etc.

I am an avid camper and hiker and have been doing it since I was a small child. My Mother would take her 5 boys and 1 daughter camping for 2 weeks every year to the White Mountains of NE Arizona. She was a great independent woman and I admire her very much for how she raised us kids. My Dad hated camping since he had to live that way as a boy during the Depression. We would go while my Dad stayed behind to manage the Ranch when the cotton was being picked in late summer just before school started. Since I loved camping I got involved in Scouting which has been another passion of mine. Baden-Powell’s “It is easier to build a boy than to repair a man” is my favorite saying of his and my philosophy to Scouting.

Worked construction for 20 years, retired from that and am now working for the City Of Las Vegas. I have 8 kids from a previous marriage and have two more with my wife, Dawn, plus her 3 boys makes 5 boys at home (well six, if you count me :) )! They’re a handful but my experience with the first 8 has helped. Seven of them are sealed in the Temple. We are still working on my non-member son-in-law. He is a great guy and we hope he will come around with lots of prayer from the family. I have 16 beautiful grandchildren and hope to have more. Two on the way as of 11/2011 :D

My Mother introduced me to the world of Latter Day Prophecy. She was an early John Bircher. I still have her original copies of, “Prophecy, Key to the Future”, “Naked Communist” and “Naked Capitalist” among others. I have voted in every election since Nixon and will continue to do so and encourage others to do likewise.

I have had callings and leadership positions in every Auxiliary in the Ward (well except for Relief Society :) ). The most enjoyable has been Missionary work and Boy Scouts.

I love The Lord, my family, and this Country in that order. Tears come to my eyes when the” Star Spangled Banner” is sung every time and I always stand and sing it with my hand over my heart when it is played. My parents were of the “Greatest Generation” and have taught me to love God and this great Country that we live in. It may have its flaws but its founding was God inspired. We just need to teach others this. (Read Skousen’s “The 5 Thousand Year Leap”) I believe that the “Elders of Israel” will save the Constitution when it hangs by a thread by being the only ones left in the Country to live by it.
