Hello

Post by Alexander »

I’d like to apologize for my behavior. God is good. Many of my recent posts have been an act on impulse, and we’re probably not grounded in the spirit. For those posts and comments, you may avoid. For those where I have uplifted and taught of Christ, let be prove I love God. I’m sorry.

Forgive me. I’d like to explain myself. I love the lord, and I love god’s children. Charity is the pure love of Christ. I don’t know everything. I’m a sinner. I’m not smarter than anyone. I love the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and want what’s best for all the members. I sustain the president and the leaders in that I support them when they act in righteousness. I’m not trying to run the church. I don’t encourage people to leave the church. I don’t mean to be bitter, though sometimes I get a bit angry. I don’t plan to leave the church. I have nothing against President Nelson. I’m not mad at the leadership of the church. I’m not bitter about my mission. I loved the people, and the area, and the work. I loved the missionaries. I miss my mission. It was hard, but I miss it. I believe everyone is on their own journeys, and we should respect each other for that. The lord will take us wherever we are at as long as we turn our hearts to him. I’m thankful for personal revelation. I’m thankful for the Book of Mormon and Bible.

I forgive all who have trespassed me and hope you can forgive me, just as Christ is good to forgive.

From now on my posts will be directed by the spirit and not by my own desires.

You are the man. I think Choosetruth was right on target. This was a good lesson to be learned.

Hey man, no harm done.

But if it helps, I can relate. Heck, I've been in shoes quite similar to yours at one point... except I never even got the chance to go on a mission due to personal difficulties combined with mental issues. I'm on the Autism Spectrum, and this caused some worry in my Bishop and Stake President when I first turned 18, especially when combined with my other issues. Did that sting? I admit that it did, and I was somewhat bitter for a while, especially when I found out about certain issues that have been beaten to death on this forum and others. But I endured and became stronger because of it. And my testimony has honestly grown because of it.

There's a lot more I can say on my personal spiritual experiences, but thats all I'll get into right here and now.

Welcome to the forum, and I am glad to see that you still do harbor a love for God and seek to do his will. We've all made mistakes, but God is willing to work with us, forgive us, and guide us.

You've addressed some items that seem loosely linked to some statements I made in another thread. For those unaware: in that discussion, I made a list of the various potential motivations of those who focus on church grievances and/or church doctrinal errors. Not all the motivations on that list were bad. Please understand that I thoughtfully made that list of potential motivations as an explanation for why I refrained from adding rather than leveling it as an accusation against you. I simply didn't want to hand ammunition out to those who simply despise all mortal authority and who seem to proselytize their rebellion. If my words were interpreted as an accusation against you, then I too render my sincere apologies. I tend to get overly defensive against those who rail harshly against the church; then I turn around and get overly defensive against those who think the church can do no wrong.

I think we can agree that we won't be judged based on our loyalty to an institution, but rather based on how well we keep the commandments, factoring in the light we've been given (where much is given much is required). Thus, there is no litmus test that requires us all to love the church. But I do think that it's 100% okay to love and appreciate the church while being concerned for its future and current trajectory - so long as our priorities are straight. Of course we are all still working on this, myself included.

I echo the sentiment above that we are all sinners who need mercy. And welcome brother.

Wonderful. I've lost track of how often I've had to rededicate myself to this idea lol. It's freaking difficult. Way too easy to lose yourself.
