We need to clarify that this is being done only to inbound passengers from certain areas of central China at this point.

Also this is standard procedure when contagious illnesses break out, we did the same with SARS and MERS in 2002 and 2012. I can recall being screened upon entry to Australia from the United States when the U.S. was having a very bad flu season.

This, folks, is why we have the CDC and the U.S. Public Health Service. In the age of ships they used to quarantine whole vessels, thankfully that is not required any longer. It not that I am downplaying it. Yes, it is useful to know what is going on, I work in the media, remember. The media has reported this quite well without all the histarics that the original videos employed.

What is not useful to hype up every event as it it is the end of the world like is so often done here. Reading these forums we have earthquake predictions, rouge planets, you name it. Only problem is nothing ever comes of these and when I point out for example that saying an earthquake will at some point the the future will strike Salt Lake is not at all the same as predicting a given earthquake in a given time frame, or that a rouge planets would cause the tides to change from their predicted times and level thus giving the whole world proof of its existence or even that public health actions are standard practice I get accused of "downplaying"?

I would note here that it is not the regular media hyping this story, no it is some wing nut with a YouTube Channel doing so.

This is the funny part. The measles infection in the USA was hyped up.

SARS was hyped up massively--the entire country was going to die! That was pretty much the only thing on the news for a long time, from March to May (and some June). More people die in two regular traffic days than the number of people killed by SARS--yet no one shook hands, everyone wore masks, people stayed inside, got shots, etc., for that time.

I could go on and on about hysterics in the MSM.

thanks for your opinion, but I trust much more, credible individuals and their You Tube channels than I ever would regular mainstream media and all their fake made up news.
Trusting fake news like CNN and most all other mainstream media is saying that you trust the Globalists and their NWO and those that will cause the fall of America; because they are the ones controlling most of the News.
And while I can understand what you are saying; and even though it's not the end of the World, I believe we are in the last days and at the beginning of the tribulations spoken of in our scriptures,
and this year we will start to see things that we thought were some made up conspiracy theories became a reality.

The corona virus is incredibly common and accounts for the majority of cases of the common cold. Currently, there are 5-6 strains that have been identified with most being mostly harmless. Unfortunately a few strains can be deadly. SARS is one of the deadly strains of corona virus with about a 10% mortality rate. The current strain hitting the news was newly discovered and named after the ar a in China where it developed. So far, it has a 2-3% mortality rate. Therein lies the concern

One thing the video got right is the conditions in Wet Markets, they are found across Asia except for Japan, Singapore and more recently South Korea.

When I travel in Southeast Asia (Malaysia and Indonesia) I will not eat at any establishment that does not have a proper, current Halal certificate on display. The difference between a Muslim Halal butcher and any other in that part of the world is startling to say the least. Halal butcher shops are spotless, everything is cleaned all the time. They clean the knives after each cut. In Asia the only source of safe meat and other foods be it what you buy or where you go out to eat is to find those Halal certificates, it's your ticket to safe food handling something other seem to have little care for.

The first case in Wuhan was on December 12, 2019. The Chinese authorities sat on this for 4 full weeks! This was a criminal coverup. If they had shut down Wuhan 3 weeks ago, the spread could have been averted.

The so called "fish market" which is claimed to be ground zero; was in fact a warehouse full of stalls of exotic and wild animal merchants with live animals stacked up vertically, and selling for human consumption. These people are apparently INCAPABLE of learning. Why in the hell are we trading with such a corrupt and criminal country?

Quarantine on Wuhan is too damn late. They have lost containment. The window of opportunity closed weeks ago. The Chinese regime is criminally incompetent.

Hospitals in Wuhan are reported to be overflowing, with patients lined up in hallways. The numbers are obviously being under reported. Thanks, China, for exporting your misery. We all look forward to you creating and exporting another variant of SARS in 2-3 years, and again, and again, and again... so you can eat freakin wild animals, because of your cultural arrogance.

This particular strain is causing renal failure, coupled with acute respiratory syndrome like SARS. Having several problems going on at once is a recipe for disaster. A dying kidney and pneumonia at the same time? Yikes. They are predicting upwards of 250,000 infected in China over the next 10 days. And the hospitals in China have been turning those with symptoms away, because they are at full capacity.

Usually the CDC and WHO make incredible claims. But sooner or later we will have a global pandemic. This might be it. It seems to be spreading rather quickly.
