Wrong Number Miracle - It's a Miracle

comment

This reminds me of a story when I was 15 years old. The phone rang at my house, you know one of those phones with a wire as long as East is from the West. Anyhow it was a collect call. I asked my mom is I should answer. She said “sure it could be important.” I answered and it was from a young man that was arrested and in prison and he was only allowed one call and knew no ones number except for a card he found in his back pocket with my brothers name and number, but admitted he found the card and picked it up while walking home from the bar the night before. It had something written on the other side,
“ God will find a way where there seems to be no way.” So I told him he’s correct that’s my brothers name But that My brother wasn’t around. Then he went on to say, I don’t know your brother but I found this card in my neighborhood so since it’s the only number I have I was wondering if your familiar with such and such. I said, “yes of course they live two houses down.” To his relief he asked if I can go knock on his door and tell them that he’s been arrested didn’t give details. So after I walked over to the neighbor and everything was set and done we finally hung up the phone. I never met the man on the other line, but remember his name is Raymond A few months later my mother and I were driving to a store about 40 miles away. Suddenly my car just made this noise and stalled. We managed to get it to the side of the road and don’t know what to do. After 20 minutes trying to figure out what to do, no cell phones at the time may I add, a guy in a tow truck pulled up next to us. And asked if we were ok. We explained the situation and he offered to take the car and us about a mile away where he owns a mechanic shop. We went along to the shop. Once there he worked on our car and got it running again. We couldn’t thank him enough. Then tried paying him he refused. He said I pay good deeds that are done unto me to others. Then he proceeded to tell us what changed his heart and why he acted that way. Months prior he was arrested for disorderly contact while intoxicated. That one night around 1am he found a card on the sidewalk with a scripture on one said and a number on the other and he put it in his back pocket. And that the people he called were so kind to him that he was grateful they help him. My mom and I started crying. He looked at us like we had two heads. I asked him if he still had the card. Sure enough it has my house number on it and my brothers name. And the scripture on the other side. We quickly told him and he couldn’t believe. He started crying and told us that we have no idea how that night changed his life. He no longer drinks and became a follower of Jesus. I would never ever forget that story.

Beautiful example of God working through us and by simple means bringing about good major changes. Thanks for sharing this inspiring story.

Btw, An old friend of mine who had a rough life but a good spirit, was arrested & worked on cars too I think. His name was Raymond. In such a big world, it’s likely not the same guy, but it reminds me that people who misbehave tend to be acting out their own pain - & how Christ asked us to love all & visit those in prison. I’ve been thinking about this, but haven’t acted on it yet - guess I’m scared. But there are other was to reach out.
