LDS temples in Indian reservations? Christmas LDS hymn book? Will the church accept the Aklatan soon?

Post by Eulate »

Here are three questions regarding the gospel. They are not necessarily very spiritual, but there we go:

I would like your opinion about the building up of LDS temples in Indian reservations. I know the word more used today is native American, but it shouldn't have considered a lesser or insulting word in the first place.

LDS temples have become everywhere a blessing to the dead and the living & not just for actual temple work. When a temple is built in a particular area not only the dead or the local members are blessed. The area gets beautified and that sparks the interest of many nonmembers in the area. Many of them become aware of the church & get a good regard for the church. Some even go to the point of being interested & join the church. Moreover with time I have learned that even the not worthy or inactive members that are not able to attend the temple go to the temple grounds to meditate or get closer to the Lord and there they feel there such a good influence that they start the path to return to the Lord. No wonder why Satan doesn't like temples being built.

Our LDS Lamanite brethren would benefit from a temple within their midst. Perhaps it would cause a boosting increase of these brothers and sisters in christ. In a great way an Indian reservation is like an independent country of its own or at least a state as much as Arizona, New Mexico or Utah. I know that in the past several years the LDS church has lagged behind in the amount of baptisms among these special people. Temples indeed cause miracles for the dead and the living.

To be specific a series of mini temples in several of the biggest reservations & even one or two bigger ones like the Lakota reservation or the Navajo reservation might do. The Navajo reservation is in my opinion a great choice for a big (not huge) LDS temple. I'm sure that because of their ancestors'devotion of the Navajos and other Amerindians missionary work would be enhanced & then temple work as well.

I have been thinking for many years that big reservations or interconnected reservations like the ones around the main Navajo reservations should turn a state of their own. Of course not every single reservation should be in that position, specifically not the smallest or middle sized ones. It would make American Indians feel more attached or fond of their belonging to the US.

But anyway, this is my opinion.

Another opinion I would like to know about is concerning creating a specific Christmas LDS hymn book. I think it would be great to include the carols sung by the Tabernacle Choir like "Oh holy night" and maybe some traditional carols from England, France, Sweden, Mexico (Las Posadas), the Philippines... This Christmas hymn book would be used for church meetings, at home with relatives or to sing knocking door to door.

Last but not least, have you heard of "The Aklatan", a Filipino book of scripture that it's said to be accepted by the church, but not officially yet? In the LDS Freedom Forum it is said to have been accepted, but the church will decline accepting it until they decide otherwise. Anyway, don't you think that the Filipinos great acceptance of the gospel might mean they are Hagothites, children of Hagoth, the sheep builder spoken of in the Book of Mormon?

Even the small temples need enough members to run it. I am not sure how many native Americans are members. My father went on a Navajo speaking mission around the 60s, I am not sure they even have that mission today. But if there are enough members, the church will build a temple anywhere it can.

As far as a new hymn book I kind of doubt it. Everything is going digital today. Printed hymn books, especially a seasonal one, isn't something I think the church would bother making.

The hymn book in my pew today was in Tongan. There are two Tongan wards that meet at our building. They have a few English books I think, but most people use digital I believe.

I think several general authorities have started that Polynesian people are the descendants of Hagoth. You can probably find qoutes about it.

In regards to the book I understand that it has to be a digital one. I don't dispute it. It would be great to have an LDS hymn book (digital) for the sacrament meetings on Christmas when all services are songs instead of talks.

I know that Polynesians are said to be descended from Hagoth, but I would like to know if anyone knows if the Filipinos are also descended from Hagoth. Their church growth has been astonishing (like Latinos & Polynesians) so the Filipinos might come from Hagoth. Any opinion?
