We could have been friends and shared of the world's riches. The treaty of Versailles imposed difficult obligations on Germany and reduced German territorial claims. Many mistakes were made on all sides. From an American perspective, WWII was avoidable for Americans. For those newly enlarged countries holding German citizens that Germany wanted back, not so avoidable if they wanted to keep the spoils.
You've dodged a lot of questions in this thread, but at long last you've avoided dancing around reality, and pointed to a single statement that we agree on. For that, I'm thankful as well. For everything else, I'm disappointed in you. Somehow I expected a more robust knowledge of history, and maybe a bit of understanding of complex events which led down the road to other events. I will tone down my expectations in the future. A good day to you.
I just dont have the stomache to write all the historical facts, especially when we really have no quarrel. I never stated we needed to invade Iran or declare war with them. I also stated I dont like war either, yet you attacked me like I was part of military industrial complex. Honestly, I'm enjoying some vacation with my family and dont have enough time nor the inclination to go all out. So I apologize if you were looking for a debate. However, if you dont see justification for going to war in WW2 after we were attacked, I'm not sure there is any argument that could be used to convince you of the need to defend ourselves. So, I'm not interested in debating this further with somebody who doesnt see the absolute need to intervene in Europe when we did in WW2. I'll be the first to admit there have been a number of unrighteous wars that the USA has waged. We are not so far apart in our thinking, but you have a more condemnatory view of any military action that I just dont share with you. However, if I am reading you right and preserving human life and preventing rape and genocide dont appeal to you, then we really couldn't be further apart in our views. I understand we cant be the world police but surely there are some conflicts that are worth the sacrifice. I hope you can agree with this but if not, well I guess nothing is worth sacrificing for, to you anyways.
I'm at an aquarium with my family now and will return later, but for now, I appreciate the responses.
