Fun Sunday School Exercise reaps big dividend

Post by JK4Woods »

Yesterday in Sunday School we did a pretty interesting exercise during class.
Blank note cards and pens were handed out, and everyone was asked to quote their favorite scripture in the Book of Mormon.
We were to note the chapter and verse and write it out on the blank card and sign our name.

Then we all handed in the cards. A couple of the favorite scripture cards were read in class, and the rest were put in a basket and passed around for everyone to take one home. The idea was that every class member then had a favorite scripture in the Book of Mormon of someone else in the class to stick on their fridge and think about all week.

It was a fun activity and I ended up with a brother's favorite scripture to whom I have an ministering assignment with.

Since I have such a long list of favorite BoM scriptures, it was tough to narrow it down, and so I went to the book mark function and noted the very first bookmarked scripture I had made some time ago.

Back when I converted to electronic scriptures on my phone, I bookmarked the following: 2 Nephi 32 vs 3 thru 7:

3 Angels speak by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore, they speak the words of Christ. Wherefore, I said unto you, feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do.

4 Wherefore, now after I have spoken these words, if ye cannot understand them it will be because ye ask not, neither do ye knock; wherefore, ye are not brought into the light, but must perish in the dark.

5 For behold, again I say unto you that if ye will enter in by the way, and receive the Holy Ghost, it will show unto you all things what ye should do.

6 Behold, this is the doctrine of Christ, and there will be no more doctrine given until after he shall manifest himself unto you in the flesh. And when he shall manifest himself unto you in the flesh, the things which he shall say unto you shall ye observe to do.

7 And now I, Nephi, cannot say more; the Spirit stoppeth mine utterance, and I am left to mourn because of the unbelief, and the wickedness, and the ignorance, and the stiffneckedness of men; for they will not search knowledge, nor understand great knowledge, when it is given unto them in plainness, even as plain as word can be.

I am grateful for the opportunity to re-acquaint myself with this plain and simple doctrine: Seek the Holy Ghost, Learn the Words of Christ and Do them.

That keeps it pretty simple...
