I think the 100 billion is less than we would have if we followed the law of Consecration. Otherwise the parable of the talents is false. I think we would have over 1 trillion in assets if we followed the Lord's plan.

I think we are going to close a lot of buildings soon.

Perhaps they aren't being fixed for that reason?

I bet the local facilities team has a bad egg.
I mean, there is no oversight or audit from higher levels to check on whether the buildings are being maintained. There is no way for common ward members to make a report or lodge a complaint any higher up than local leadership.

Besides the facilities team in our area don’t care about the local ward members, else why has the RS room consistently been an ice box to the extent they have a big basket of fleecy blankets the sisters grab on their way in.... and it’s not the heat not working... It’s because the A/C is way too cold in the summer..!!

Also, for the facilities team to store the old perfectly good chandeliers from the chapel FOR TEN YEARS in the Scout shed out in the parking lot is idiotic.

We have similar issues in our old, decrepit building. One of the problems is that we have NO hot water anywhere in our building, ever - not in any of the bathrooms, not in the kitchen. Makes it kind of hard to properly wash hands or dishes. We also have constant and major water leaks which have caused us to have to replace all or some of the flooring throughout the building FOUR times in the last ten years - what a massive and unnecessary expense that could be avoided if there was proper maintenance. The tithe-paying members have no say in any of this, of course - believe me, we've tried - and as mentioned, the FM Group couldn't care less, at least those covering our area.

But the best thing I can think of is education - teach a man to fish type stuff. I think this is particularly needful in 2nd and 3rd world countries. Teach people how to get clean water, nurse or EMT training, and in particular, mental health.
I also support lowering mission costs.
That's interesting because I've spoken with my husband about how it would be great if the church parents in our community could get together and start a school. Some money would be needed for that, and I think it'd be a great investment if some of that church money could be used for just that purpose.
We live in the most conservative area in probably the entire world. At least I can't think of a place more conservative then the Oklahoma/North texas area. Church parents are pulling kids out of this area in droves and home schooling them. When that starts to happen in the most conservative of areas, then you know there's trouble a brewing.

Nevertheless, regardles of what I think, in the end I trust the church leaders to be good stewards of the money. The best money managers happen to be well off, educated, conservative old white guys.

Since the Church went with EMCOR last year, it has been a hassle. Church is paying third party EMCOR to handle facilities in most of the Americas. Have your bishop open about 100 FIRS.

In "The Expanse" TV show the Mormons are building a spaceship called Nauvoo so they can travel to a different solar system.

That explains why they need the $100,000,000,000. :D

That's crazy!

Do they have polygamy while on the spaceship? Do the passengers have to pay tithes, still? Is the captain actually the prophet? Is there a secret plan to get to Kolob in that thing?

Mention of the Mormons is just a very small part of the TV series. It's just mentioned in a few episodes here and there.
