Agreed, but the way tdj said it, it wasn't as if they were admitting a character flaw, but that they were saying it to justify the idea of doing so
But it's online so I don't know what they're thinking. I'm just giving my honest thoughts

So what could be behind the smiles here?????? a couple of ideas.......
1. He is just insane.......nothing behind those beatty pig eyes except a psychopath
2. He's just stupid.....has no idea what is going on behind the pig like eyes.....
3. He is crazy like a fox and believes the hydra will save him at the jury trial....maybe this is soooo much larger than we know
4. He's on some type of drug......have no idea what would allow you to be so carefree....but I'd like some...lol
5. He is possessed and fears nothing....has no remorse and is going down defiant....
6. Really believes his own doctrines and is really just delusional
. a. He is justified and thinks somehow this is all going away....
How could someone who has participated in this be this happy??????? I can't even understand it......
That's because you're a normal sane person, and not filled with evil. Of the choices above, my guesses are 1, 3, 5, and maybe 6. He and Lori are most certainly sociopaths/psychopaths (antisocial personality disorder, as the shrinks call it), as they obviously have no conscience to speak of. A person with a conscience doesn't laugh and giggle and flirt with the cops a few minutes after her husband (Charles) has been murdered. A person with a conscience doesn't grin and smile during his hearing when the gruesome details of the children he helped murder and chop up and burn and bury are laid out. That they are filled with evil spirits goes without saying, and can most likely be attributed to their submersion in all the false doctrines they got caught up in, believed in, preached, etc. When you welcome the devil in, he obliges - every single time - and he brings additional guests. And we've seen that even with all the evidence, there are still those who 'believe' in Chad and Lori - who believe what they believe - who preach the same false doctrines - and ignore all the dead bodies and destroyed lives - so the hydra concept is a real thing, for sure.
Ahh yes...the subversion in false doctrines...well said!

Sounds like mg may have had an affair with David Warwick and lori was trying to deflect when mg was talking about chad and lori behavior...the obvious affair mg saw was turned around on her...whether mg did or not isn't important in the case...although I would say it goes to why melanie was privy to lori and Chad's dating. Melanie has publicly said that she was with Lori and Chad walking around the track at BYUI in broad daylight during her visit last September (4 weeks before Chad murdered his wife, Tammy), and that during that walk, Lori and Chad were holding hands, hugging, and kissing on the mouth, etc. So anyone could have seen them doing that - they didn't seem like they were trying to hide their affair at all if they're willing to kiss each other during the day on the BYUI campus, where any number of people could have witnessed Tammy's husband kissing another woman. There was no doubt more that Melanie knew about their adultery, but this episode has been public for awhile now.
As for Melanie and Warwick, I pointed out in a post a few weeks ago, that she was publicly with Warwick, as a couple, just a couple weeks after she divorced her husband. Whether she divorced her husband FOR Warwick or not, I do not know. Then there's Melani, Lori's niece, who did the same thing to her husband, Brandon (since killing him didn't work as planned). And of course, Lori and Zulema have been married several times each. The women in this cult move fast between men. It's bizarre and disgusting, IMO, but not surprising, considering many of their beliefs.

Not meaning to justify Lori's behavior upon the death of Charles, BUT, if my ex were suddenly shot dead, I'd be cheerful too. Probably would dance a jig.
Thank you for that insight into your character.
Charles wasn't Lori's "ex". They were still legally married when she murdered him, and then laughed, giggled, and flirted with the cop about it.
Were they on good terms though? Legalities aside, it sounds like they were divorced by Gods laws by then. I don't know what kind of person he was behind closed doors, and neither do you. We have a good idea NOW what kind of person Lori is.
As far as I'm concerned, YOU have an ex or close to it who's a sleazebag get killed and then come back to me about character. Talking about MY ex not Charles.
They were back together, after Lori took off for 2 months and Charles filed for divorce, but then stopped the proceedings, so that would assume that they were both trying to make the marriage work. I think since Charles is dead and can't defend himself, and there is no evidence whatsoever that he was a bad husband, it's unfair for you to suggest he was. And we actually do have an idea of what kind of person he was by watching the body cam video from when he was trying to get into his home, he was clearly very concerned, worried and frightened for how his wife was acting, and he still loved her so he later ended the divorce proceedings to try to save the marriage. I think you need to be careful of judging Charles by your own experience with an ex husband and remember that Charles was NEVER Lori's ex husband. They were married and he was still paying all the bills for her lifestyle, always paying for a beautiful home, living expenses, the children and even paying for things for her extended family.

Yeah, that wouldn't surprise me at all. Melanie did say in the hearing that she slept in Tylee's room, and David slept in JJ's room (and JJ slept in Lori's room with her, before they killed him) - but yeah, who knows. The whole group seems to have seriously loose morals to say the least.

Indeed, but was Ian a part of their cult when he got divorced? I was thinking of the people directly involved in the cult and how easily and often they swap out (or murder) their spouses for a new model. But yes, since you mention it, it seems most LDS people today have at least one divorce under their belts. We truly are no different than the world anymore.

I didn't get that Melanie had had an affair with David Warwick, I heard nothing to allude to that. From listening to it, I though she was throwing it in Melanie's face that Melanie was dating him before his divorce (or her divorce) was final. That used to be frowned on, but people, even LDS, will date before their divorces are final. The strange thing is, Lori seemed to think it was a badge of honor that Chad was not divorced. Like in her twisted way of thinking, his being divorced would be worse, so it was better for him to likely kill his spouse.

This is what Lori said in the phone call:
Melanie Gibb
“Oh, oh. So I haven’t ever seen you with, I’ve never seen you with Chad, kiss him and walk around the track and BYU with him. I never saw that? You say I’m–”
Lori Daybell
“You’re the one who’s feeling guilty about being with someone before they were divorced.”
Melanie Gibb
“Oh honey. I think that’s not what we’re talking about here.”
Lori Daybell
“It’s not what we’re talking about here. That’s why I’m saying. You aren’t going off the deep end. But–”
Melanie Gibb
“I’m just saying, this is not a behavior of someone that sees Jesus Christ. It’s not the behavior.”
It is not my business what has or has not happened between Melanie and David. In my opinion, the conversation tells much more about the character of Lori. She is denying something that Melanie has seen with her own eyes. Instead, Lori accuses her.

Do we know that they spent the night in the same bedroom? My assumption is that they were both there to attend the conference, but unless there's someone who has confirmed it, we maybe ought to give them the benefit of the doubt. They aren't on trial here.

Good point. I don't know if Ian was involved with the cult before meeting Melani. Actually, I have the impression that he wasn't. Then he was an odd choice for Melani to marry. All the other people formed couples inside the cult.

But just the idea they are already in a serious relationship to be this close seems sketchy to me and goes to her credibility.....she just seems to me very impressionable and not reliable

Since Ian panicked and privately went to the FBI after Melanie P. shared a lot of information about the ''cult', I'd say he was not a member of their intimate circle. He even wore a wire, as I recall.

Another indictment that many LDS people of today are no different than the world. If a person is still married, they are still married, and they should not be dating other people. It doesn't matter if they are going through a divorce or not. D&C 42:22 hasn't been rescinded and still applies, even if going through a divorce. It is a violation of the higher law that Jesus gave to not even lust after another (Matthew 5:28). The Lord has said that for those who don’t repent, they will lose the Spirit and risk excommunication (D&C 42:23). Going through a divorce doesn't mean the standards of the Church don't apply anymore - and that is that a person has strict fidelity as long as they are married. A person going through a divorce may not attend single's activities, for example (Church Handbook of Instruction 2:16.3.5), so the Church does still frown on it, even if the culture of many members is aligned with the world.

Eddins is back from a 10 minute recess. He says the reason preliminary hearings are held is to determine probable cause. Eddins says after reviewing all of the testimony, exhibits and arguments, Wood has met its burden of probable cause. Eddins says there is probable or sufficient cause that Daybell committed the crimes he’s accused of. Daybell’s case is now bound over to District Court and he will go before Judge Steven Boyce on Aug. 21 for an arraignment.

I dont care if mg had an affair...I dont know she did....just saying she in not a person i would regard as credible or reliable..she seems to be trying to save herself...which i guess is the natural.response......im.just saying this because of all the scripture spin melanie g used on lv.....its just really disingenuous in my opinion.....I dont take mg all that setiously... just my opinion.. mg can do whatever she wants...just the religious crap they use to defend themselves is disturbing
Edit to add: just goes to the pathology of these people involved in this....there seems to be a pattern of wresting the scriptures as a defense for their actions as mg stated....that's about all I can really believe that's coming for her......its just crazy someone who knows the scriptures and uses them as defense can be justified in the sins they prefer to commit by the scriptires....

Lori seemed to think it was a badge of honor that Chad was not divorced.
Like in her twisted way of thinking, his being divorced would be worse, so it was better for him to likely kill his spouse.
Chad said something very similar - I don't have the reference in front of me, but I believe it was last year, when he said divorce was out of the question. Murder, meh, no biggie - but divorce? No way!

That info was out about mg knowing about CD and lv....and dw and mg spending the night in Lori's townhouse together.....my thought are she was involved with extra marital activities before her divirce... but I've not heard it from any source except lv
I agree with you about Lori's character (or the lack thereof), but what does that have to do with my comment that you quoted?
