End of the world movies

There have been a lot of movies about the end of the world. More recenty we have seen ones based around the release of bio-weapons that decimate the planet.
Some say that the elite is trying to warn us or boast about their plans for us.
In the UK we have just seen the last in the current series of Survivors on the BBC (

We've also had the following on UK screens:
I am Legend, Doomsday... there are a few others that have slipped my mind for now.
What do you think about the possibility of an apocalypse?

You can watch the Survivors series here. I found it quite interesting, but I couldn't understand why firearms weren't a priority at the beginning. It's well worth watching over Christmas.

I think that if the Elite are involved in or behind the production of any end of the world fliks it is to frighten us into accepting their solutions, which will lead to submission to a world socialist dictatorship.
I recall while living in England 76-78 there was a survival series on TV that ended with the leader becoming infected with small pox and riding off to join with the bad guys in order to infect them.

In America we have Jericho. Pretty good TV show. I think there was some superior forces at work trying to get it canceled though.

I remember reading about Soviet views regarding nuclear war and something in the materials struck me:
-Americans feel like if nukes go off it is the end of the world and they just can't seem to look beyond it. No planning for recovery, living beyond, etc.
-Russians realize that a couple weeks later it is safe to come out and everyone will need to deal with the effects and go on fighting a war
Sometimes I feel like these end-of-the world movies have brainwashed us into hoping for the best, fearing for the worst, and feeling powerless about it all at the same time. They almost discourage us from acting or preparing because Americans feel like there won't be anything they can do about it anyways. As if every disaster will mean the end of the world.

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. Sometimes a movie is just a movie. Maybe movie executives are a bunch of blood sucking whores who would sell their grandmas for a buck. Sometimes the simplest explanation is the best explanation (Razum's theorem.) Must there be a conspiracy in everything?

Yes.

Wow! Missed that one by a mile.
I just spent the last few hours under my trailer, in 10 degree temps, fixing a sewer pipe that had broken. It was not a happy place to be. The swamp gas must have gotten to my brain cells.

English Saint, you may be on to something when it comes to global warming end-of-the-world films.
