I do feel like we live in dark spiritual times. So we need to be critical and careful. Who are the Zeezeroms and who are the Almas and Amuleks?

We know the good spirit leads us to pray. So that's what we ought to do.

I remember Glenn Beck had a time during Trump's campaign where he fasted I think for Ted Cruz. During that very fast, Trump himself ended up in the same center as he and Ted Cruz were campaigning. Glenn left in shame.

I couldn't believe it. I thought surely this remarkable coincidence was God's answer to Glenn's fast, to recognize that Trump was the man for the job, not Cruz.

Slowly, Glenn stopped worrying that Trump would become a dictator when he saw the evidence of Trump's policies. He finally saw the truth years later, after being worried for several years.

If there is an ulterior message that our country sure is in trouble, because of Trump, then let's pray for it. It can only do good. And pray for our leaders too. They may need the help most of all.

I'm sorry you're so pained by the lack of the country in the title. I think I get it. It really bugs me when I read a news story and have a hard time determining where it all went down.

Are there not online Australia-centric forums populated primarily by Australians, who fail to call out that all/most of the posts have to do with Australia?

Are there not online UK-centric forums populated primarily by UK citizens, who fail to call out that all/most of the posts have to do with the UK?

Is it not natural that a forum (this one) whose website is served from a server in the U.S. (source: https://check-host.net/ip-info?host=ldsfreedomforum.com ), whose posts are posted primarily by citizens of the U.S. (guessing, but I think it's probably a fairly safe claim to make), has a lot of U.S.-centric content?

I'm asking, because being an American I don't actually know. If "no" is the correct answer to my questions, maybe there is still a specific reason why the behavior you lament is the way it is? I've always wondered why people in other countries track the U.S. in ways that people in the U.S. typically don't ever do in the reverse -- (I don't imagine myself being that interested in the U.S. if I were born, raised, and lived in Kenya, for example) but I suppose it's probably because the U.S. is the most powerful country in the world.

I'm rambling but I guess all of this is to point out: there are reasons people are the way they are. We aren't trying to be rude, or dismissive. Please be patient with us. Some of us can learn to be more globally-friendly, but I guess it's just a fairly innocent cultural thing so please be patient.

This is not an American Forum it is an International LDS Forum.
In keeping with the subject of the thread, in place of "our country" the title should read "Pray for the United States of America.

In answer to one of your questions:
Yes, I have spoken to many Texans and spent much time there.

We can get the word out of Donald Trumps’ betrayal to the 2nd amendment by showing his words do not match his actions. He’s a flip-flopper like Mitt Romney! Here he gives lip service to the 2nd amendment like: "We can't make it harder for good, solid, law-abiding citizens to protect themselves. We will always uphold the right to self-defense, and we will always uphold the Second Amendment, we will." –Trump

And here his actions:
First of all Trump nominated William Barr for Attorney General replacing Jeff Sessions. Barr went on record under oath supporting gun confiscation, said he: “I think we need to push along the ERPOs [gun confiscation] so that we have these ‘Red Flag’ laws to supplement the use of background checks [gun registration] ... this is the single most important thing I think we can do in the gun control area...”
-- Attorney General nominee William Barr, 1/15/19

William Barr was in charge of overseeing the execution of American citizens at Ruby Ridge.
Trump scolded Republican congressmen for wanting to include national reciprocity for concealed carry and instead supported the Joe Manchin (D-WV)/Pat Toomey (R-PA) gun control bill. This bill will outlaw the private sale of firearms at gun shows and the private sale of firearms period.
This is the exact same universal background check legislation that was proposed by Barack Obama in the aftermath of the Sandy Hook shootings in 2013. And it is the very same bill that was defeated by the DEMOCRAT Senate that same year.

Trump also wants to raise the age for all gun purchases to 21, add “mental health” restrictions to firearm background checks, and bolstering the National Instant Criminal Background Check System. He will also back the STOP School Violence Act, which gives the Justice Department grants for preventing school violence (whatever the heck that means) and get rid of “bump stocks” and other firearm “modifiers.” Trump said that bump stocks “will be gone shortly.”

But Donald Trump took the cake in the disdain for constitutional government department when he told lawmakers that guns should be confiscated from people without any due process.
The Hill reports: “President Trump on Wednesday voiced support for confiscating guns from certain individuals deemed to be dangerous, even if it violates due process rights.
‘I like taking the guns early, like in this crazy man’s case that just took place in Florida ... to go to court would have taken a long time,’ Trump said at a meeting with lawmakers on school safety and gun violence.

“‘Take the guns first, go through due process second,’ Trump said.
“Trump was responding to comments from Vice President Pence that families and local law enforcement should have more tools to report potentially dangerous individuals with weapons.
“‘Allow due process so no one’s rights are trampled, but the ability to go to court, obtain an order and then collect not only the firearms but any weapons,’ Pence said.
"‘Or, Mike, take the firearms first, and then go to court,’ Trump responded.”

I agree with Chuck Baldwin when he said: “Donald Trump is not only a traitor to the Second Amendment; he is a traitor to the U.S. Constitution, republican government, and every sacred principle enshrined in our Bill of Rights.

And if the NRA, conservatives, Christians, Republicans, and, yes, Trump supporters, do not get off of their butts (and snap out of their hypnotic love affair with who they think Trump is) and start SCREAMING their opposition to these measures, Trump and the GOP Congress are going to pass the most egregious gun control laws in history--laws that no Democrat administration or Congress could ever hope to pass.”

Yes, get the word out that Trump is a flip-flop and that the 2nd amendment is the thread hanging from the U.S. Constitution of which the Prophet Joseph Smith prophesied of. Once the second amendment is trashed all Americans rights mentioned in the Constitution will fall one after another in succession like dominos.

He showed a deep respect, admiration and love for his family ancestors and early colonists in history and connection to NE US. It felt deeply personal. And interesting how much he talked about praying for our Nation because it's at a crossroads (I think he said those words). He seemed to be yearning for righteousness in leadership for the direction of the country to get it together under God - like repent ALL you prideful politicians and ask God to lead you to get important work done. I hope we all will Pray for our nation - pray hard and tell others to pray.

The LDS lady who wrote this grew up and went to school and church with our kids years ago, especially with our older son. And she also worked as a staffer for AZ Senator Flake. So I suspect she would be sensitive to some Elder Ballard's talk. Her comment "And interesting how much he talked about praying for our Nation because it's at a crossroads" especially gives me hope that the Brethren may start focusing on the dire straits that the United States is in.

I'd like to give at least a partial answer to my earlier question (above): "How do we educate other LDS members about the secret combinations and the new world order conspiracy?"

Latter-day Saints have been warned of "secret combinations" (both singular and multiple) by latter-day prophets and apostles. But as far as I know, only the Prophet Joseph Smith and the ancient prophet Moroni is the only prophets who actually who actually gave us direction in dealing with them. (Ether 8: & D&C 123:12-15 respectively). If I've missed any, please feel free to so advise.

As to our actions, I think President Nelson has urged us to seek diligently personal revelation. And this is certainly one area in which we would do well to seek guidance.

I think the only way for us as a people to remove the secret combinations is modeled in Alma 46. We would need a modern day title of liberty event unless we get divine intervention.

As to educating our peers...we need to be not afraid and share what we’ve come to know. I’ve been working on my own presentation I’ll be sharing with my family and friends once our modern day chief judge takes a fall on the judgement seat. I will go over all the evidence, outline the prophecies/statements and sequence of events leading up to the establishment of Zion, and share what has been personally revealed to me that I’m prompted to share. I already talk to and warn everyone around me about the evil state we are in, but this is beyond my current admonitions. I don’t think there is a one size fits all solution. As long as we are actively engaged, doing everything we can, and following the direction of the Holy Ghost will we do the correct thing in our own sphere.

That said, I believe the times of the gentiles are fulfilled. I believe we have long past the point of no return and sealed our fate described by Jesus in 3 Nephi 21 when he said:

14 Yea, wo be unto the Gentiles except they repent; for it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Father, that I will cut off thy horses out of the midst of thee, and I will destroy thy chariots;
15 And I will cut off the cities of thy land, and throw down all thy strongholds;
16 And I will cut off witchcrafts out of thy land, and thou shalt have no more soothsayers;
17 Thy graven images I will also cut off, and thy standing images out of the midst of thee, and thou shalt no more worship the works of thy hands;
18 And I will pluck up thy groves out of the midst of thee; so will I destroy thy cities.
19 And it shall come to pass that all lyings, and deceivings, and envyings, and strifes, and priestcrafts, and whoredoms, shall be done away.
20 For it shall come to pass, saith the Father, that at that day whosoever will not repent and come unto my Beloved Son, them will I cut off from among my people, O house of Israel;
21 And I will execute vengeance and fury upon them, even as upon the heathen, such as they have not heard.

It sounds like Elder Ballard is drinking the "Abraham Lincoln was a good Christian and a conservative President" kool aid.

That's false propaganda.

Lincoln did nothing to help the Saints during their severe persecution in his home state of Illinois. Once he became President he persecuted the Saints in Utah. He would have persecuted them more severely if he wasn't so busy invading and laying waste to the South.

Brigham Young and other early church leaders repeatedly condemned him over these things.

Lincoln raised taxes, squandered US dollars on wasteful government welfare projects, and completely abused his power. During his presidency, the federal government seized a lot more power than it was supposed to have under the Constitution. This power was never given back to the people. Instead more and more power has been taken away from the people by the government. Lincoln set us off on the path of big government.

He wasn't even a good Christian, even though some of his quotes make him appear to be so.

We don't need more presidents like him.

It seems fairly obvious that the leaders, most members, the Deseret News, et al, would have preferred Hillary Clinton to have won in 2016. Such is the state of things today, sadly. In the end it doesn't really matter who occupies the White House, as the toilet on this heaven-sent experiment in freedom and liberty was irrevocably flushed decades ago. All prophesied in the scriptures, so shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. Do what you can for your families, and focus on the Savior and the joy only he can bring. :)

After seeing what's been happening in Culiacan Mexico recently, I'm praying for the Mexican people. The drug cartels just showed their true power to the world. They're literally a modern-day Gadianton robber band, complete with armored vehicles, .50 caliber machine guns, anti-tank weapons and a complete lack of human decency.
https://whiskeytangotexas.com/2019/10/2 ... -collapse/
The forces that emerged were in the literal sense awesome and awful. Heavy weaponry that would be familiar on any Iraqi, Syrian, or Yemeni battlefield was brought to bear. More and worse: custom-built armored vehicles, designed and built to make a Sahel-warfare technical look like an amateur’s weekend kit job, were rolled out for their combat debut. Most critically, all this hardware was manned by men with qualities the Mexican Army largely lacks: training, tactical proficiency, and motivation.

Then the coup de grace: as the Chapo sons’ forces engaged in direct combat with their own national military, kill squads went into action across Culiacán, slaughtering the families of soldiers engaged in the streets.
This all happened within a day's drive of the US border.

Imo, if Washington was the current President, our public servants would be executed for treason. Those guys didn't mess around.

Most modern people would label them extremist/crazy.

Careful what you wish for

I'm not aware of this, but would love to read about what you're referring to.

"We must also be concerned at recent official expressions that would narrow the field of activities protected by the free exercise of religion. Thus, when President Obama used the words freedom of worship instead of free exercise of religion, a writer for the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty sounded this warning:

“To anyone who closely follows prominent discussion of religious freedom in the diplomatic and political arena, this linguistic shift is troubling.

“The reason is simple. Any person of faith knows that religious exercise is about a lot more than freedom of worship. It's about the right to dress according to one's religious dictates, to preach openly, to evangelize, to engage in the public square."36

Fortunately, more recent expressions by President Obama and his state department have used the traditional references to the right to practice religious faith.37

Even more alarming are recent evidences of a narrowing definition of religious expression and an expanding definition of the so-called civil rights of “dignity,""autonomy," and "self-fulfillment" of persons offended by religious preaching. Thus, President Obama's head of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Chai Feldblum, recently framed the issue in terms of a “sexual-orientation liberty" that is such a fundamental right that it should prevail over a competing “religious-belief liberty.”38 Such a radical assertion should not escape analysis. It has three elements. First, the freedom of religion—an express provision of the Bill of Rights that has been recognized as a fundamental right for over 200 years—is recast as a simple “liberty" that ranks among many other liberties. Second, Feldblum asserts that sexual orientation is now to be defined as a “sexual liberty" that has the status of a fundamental right. Finally, it is claimed that “the best framework for dealing with this conflict is to analyze religious people‘s claims as 'belief liberty interest' not as free exercise claims under the First Amendment." The conclusion: Religious expressions are to be overridden by the fundamental right to “sexual liberty.”

This video may be recent, but the actions and equipment are not new to the cartels. It has been this way for at least a couple of decades.

In a talk W. Cleon Skousen gave at BYU many years ago, he gave an answer on how to wake-up people to our awful situation, said he:

"And it's a bit tragic because it isn't a question of whether you are a Democrat or Republican. It's going to take both parties to beat this conspiracy [Secret Combination]. I want to tell you it is so big and so well entrenched that we have a problem when we inform students of how serious it is because they go into a state of shock. They say, "What can we do?" and they mean, "When do we meet at the armory?"

"Actually, this is an educational problem. We don't meet at the armory. We can beat this thing by education and exposure."

"The saddest epitaph carved in memory of a vanished liberty, is that it was lost, lost by its possessors who failed to stretch forth a saving hand while yet there was time." Gorge Sutherland

Now is the time to get the word out "while yet there is time.” So send this message to your friends and family members today!
Chuck Baldwin! He ran once before in 2008 but didn't have name recognition. The only way to beat Trump as far as I can see is to write in Chuck Baldwin on the ballot. I think Trump can be defeated if word gets out and goes viral that his word doesn’t match his actions—and his actions suggest that he is out to do away with the 2nd amendment.

I was outraged when I saw this video by Pastor Chuck Baldwin on Trump. If I was outraged because I'm a lover of the U.S. Constitution and enjoy what limited freedoms I have under its umbrella, I'm not about to roll over and just say "Oh well, such is politics." I was manipulated and tricked by Trump so I'm not about to let him get away with duping me and jeopardizing my life and the lives of my family--we have to speak up on such an important subject. We have to get the word out.

I'm taking it personal and everybody else in America that was duped by him should take it personal and send a strong message that such trickery will not be tolerated. All people who love their Constitutional rights and freedoms should be outraged and desire to be educated on the merits of Pastor Chuck Baldwin so they can send back to the criminals in Washington that their day is coming when "the slaves will rise up against their [Gadianton] masters." (D&C 87:4)

So how do we get the word out about what is really going on.? How do we educate other LDS members about the secret combinatiions and the new world order conspiracy.?

Send out this information via e-mail, twitter and facebook to family and friends and ask them to send out this information to their family and friends—help make it to go viral. Tell them that they are fulfilling the scriptural injunction in the Doctrine and Covenants.

"Therefore, that we should waste and wear out our lives in bringing to light all the hidden things of darkness, wherein we know them; and they are truly manifest from heaven—
These should then be attended to with great earnestness.
Let no man count them as small things; for there is much which lieth in futurity, pertaining to the saints, which depends upon these things.
You know, brethren, that a very large ship is benefited very much by a very small helm in the time of a storm, by being kept workways with the wind and the waves.
Therefore, dearly beloved brethren, let us cheerfully do all things that lie in our power; and then may we stand still, with the utmost assurance, to see the salvation of God, and for his arm to be revealed."

Oh yes, I’m familiar with Dr. Carol Quigley's book Hope and Tragedy but don't leave God out of the picture who can perform miracles.

Although, now that I think about it, Oaks doesn't get it either. Far from. When he attacked Kentucky County Clerk Kim Davis for obeying her conscience, her Christian faith, and the scriptures, for not issuing "marriage" licenses to gays. Shame on Oaks. Perfect example of the leaders speaking out of both sides of their mouths. Prop 8 in 2008 - then in 2011 the Oaks talk you posted above - then in 2015, condemning Davis for doing what was 100% right and good and correct - then in 2017, his flaming BYU-H speech. Methinks the Church/Oaks flip-flops more than even Mitt, and that's saying something.
