so.....what is on your secular reading list- internet version? No particular order, probably missing some:

- https://www.theburningplatform.com/2019 ... ore-203461
- http://www.woodpilereport.com/html/index-593.htm
- https://www.zerohedge.com/
- ?

reading today on the burning platform- do any of you buy into this "4th turning" idea?

Also, my new theory about why the church no longer emphasizes "food storage" like they did in the 1970's:

(from https://www.lds-general-conference.org/)

maybe it's similar to Alma 9:2
Who art thou? Suppose ye that we shall believe the testimony of one man, although he should preach unto us that the earth should pass away?
- maybe God only sent one (or 2) men to tell us, and now it's up to us? It wasn't 3 months after this statement that Amonihah was destroyed.

Pat Gray , now I remember hearing him this morning as another possible instance towards flying colors. Future Shock was a good read and somehow the conversation made me think of it.

Anyways, is it gray or grey ? don’t know now. Maybe check tomorrow.

It's Gray. :)

Mudflap, my favorite go-to news source for the past 2+ decades is The New American - you can get most of their articles for free online - well worth reading, IMO - https://www.thenewamerican.com/

I also read zerohedge and survivalblog.

I too am a huge ZeroHedge consumer - while I see their general bias, and don't always agree with it - there's always good content and a plethora of charts to back up what their opinions. I've read some SurvivalBlog, but it's been spotty, usually following a link someone else provided.

I am very sold on The Fourth Turning - even though I have not read the book! But I have consumed probably dozens of hours of online content that discusses it and expounds upon it. To the extent that I understand it, it's really not much different than the Nephite pride cycle. Another way of looking at it is each generation is shaped by the generation before it. Every generation is not uniform of course, but let's say for arguments sake that 80% of a given generation has most or all of the general characteristics of their generation. This means they are in general going to raise their kids a certain way, which is going to determine their general characteristics, etc.

Regarding the New American - I spent most of the 90s and a few years thereafter religiously reading the New American. It's a good wakeup tool, and I generally agree with what they write. I think the JBS is in large part the salt of the earth, really good people, good intentions, and a better than average understanding of the problems. But I don't feel they are very effective at proselyting their ideas or changing society. Not that I have found a better solution, changing people is flat-out hard. But I do get frustrated with "education campaigns" when most people are disinclined to learn. I suspect the Lord will be preaching His own sermons shortly.
