A gunman has opened fire outside a bar in Dayton, Ohio, killing 9 people and injuring nearly 30 others in the second U.S. mass shooting in less than 24 hours, officials say. The gunman was shot dead by police and his motive was not immediately known.

Just 30 seconds after he fired his first shots, Betts was killed by police patrolling the area.

Law enforcement officials confirmed the shooters sister, Megan Betts, 22, was among the nine victims.

I don't want to know their names or faces. I personally don't care, but i mention this because that's part of their motivation.
Nihlism + lack of (or broken) human interaction + other complicated "nature vs. nurture" factors + the desire to "one up" the last guy who got all the glory.
I blame public schools for the nihlism. I blame our own entertainment culture and social media culture for the broken human interaction. I blame the media for glorifying these shooters (whether they do it intentionally or not).

What comes from these events is why they are happening. People will always eventually trade their liberty for security.
This stuff isn't random.

The dead also includes Megans boyfriend. They were the first to be shot, and were in a car.

Wow. So he went to shoot his sister and boyfriend and then just started shooting random people?

Connor arrived in a vehicle with his sister and another male.
He first shot his sister, wounded the male, and then shot at the public before being killed himself, all in the space of 30 seconds... according to police reports.

While mass shootings regularly grab the attention of the national media, they account for only a sliver of total gun deaths in the United States. The 68 people killed in mass shootings this year make up a fraction of a percent of the 12,509 people killed by guns in 2018. On top of that, an estimated 22,000 people commit suicide with firearms every year.

The "mass killings" that are the most sensationalized by the news media are the ones committed by whites.

He and his sister rode together. Essentially, they were going to town and separated after they got there. It seems like he planned this, but why he chose his sister first is beyond me, unless he let slip what he was planning and she argued with him or something. Or, if she and her boyfriend were in a car together, maybe she saw him passing by with guns and questioned him or tried to talk him out of it.

Wait. What? You make it sound like he was giving a ride to two people, then killed them before they got out of his car. The news I read said he gave his sister a ride, and they parted after getting to their destination. But she was still the first one he killed.

According to police reports, Connor arrived in a vehicle with his sister and another male. As Connor was armed and dressed for combat it would seem the two would have known his intentions.
Even more confusing is an obituary published in The Hartford Courant on Feb. 23, 2014 of a Connor Betts whose sisters name was Megan. What are the odds there were two Connor Betts, both having sisters named Megan ? Also, it seems the obituary has now been erased. I read it when it was still on line so it was genuine.

Connor D. Betts
1992 - 2014
Connor D. Betts, 22, of Suffield passed away suddenly Wednesday, February 19, 2014. Connor was born in Hartford on February 12, 1992, son of Kathleen O'Leary Betts, and was loved by all who knew him. Growing up in Suffield he graduated from Suffield High School in 2010 and then attended Lincoln Tech for Diesel Technology and received his certification in 2012....
Connor was always willing to lend a hand and had the great ability to fix anything. He was known for his heart of gold and will be missed dearly by all. He was a 6'3" teddy bear known as Baby by his Mama. Along with his mother Connor is survived by his four siblings, Colleen Rodriguez and her husband Alfredo; Megan Betts; Brian Betts; and Kathryn Betts all in Suffield.

This is like a big joke to TPTB. I wouldn't be surprised if they actually intentionally put a few things like this in each operation (and it seems they have), just to get a kick out of it.
