mike_rumble wrote: July 19th, 2019, 10:22 am Readers may wonder why members are becoming inactive or leaving altogether, but it's not so hard to understand when these things happen and there is only silence from the Authorities of the Church. Is it enough to just make positive statements on morality without an equal condemnation of specific acts of immorality? I don't think so, in my opinion anyway.
I'm starting to think the church wants all these people to leave and leave them alone. They are just kind of waiting for all the social mormons to drop out and doing it on good terms so they won't fight against the church. That's why the Church is so silent on everything and saying things about home-centered church, staying in the ship, personal revelation and why there was that pronouncement from years ago where they said "We've asked you to get a food storage. We aren't going to ask again." I have always took that as a sign that the church has said a bunch of stuff and they won't be able to say it again. Just study it out.
Wait, when was this food storage pronouncement? This sounds vaguely familiar like a rumor or something. Is there a link?
I don't remember. I heard it with my own ears though. I remember it was just like one sentence before they started their talk. I thought it was in response to this talk but now I don't think so.

I have never found the "black or white" thinking of the Church and its members to be very healthy. Teaching that people are either "white and delightsome" or "black and filthy" makes for a very unstable and unhealthy world view. Who cares if people do things differently than you do? Why do you waste one second worrying about how someone else spends their life, unless they specifically ask you to? You do you, let them do them, understand they have good in them, and that YOU have your OWN things to work on......and be a balanced member of the Church instead of one who points fingers and scoffs at others.

I don't recall anyone on this thread using black-or-white thinking. You ask -- who cares if people do things differently than you do? I agree, until, like you implied, they specifically ask you to believe as they believe (live like they do). Well, that is exactly what the members of the Church who are the Mormons Building Building Bridges, the Mama and Papa Dragons, and the many other groups who are pushing LGBTQ total acceptance on us all. They are very clear that they want the Church body (all of us) to accept all LGBTQ individuals, dating, married to same-gender, transgenders, et al, as full members in good standing, eligible for all ordinances, including temple marriage.

The bishop in TX that I mentioned on another post said yesterday that as wards and stakes, the members of the church can be fully welcoming of all LGBTQ, but it's up to the GA's to receive further light and knowledge that they should have all ordinances available. Baptism for gay married converts, sealings for gay married members, NO restrictions as long as they are worthy (fidelity in a same-gender marriage counts as worthy).

They have gone far past "let us live our lives, and you live yours" and they acknowledge that they aren't really building a bridge, except one where convention, conservative Mormons come over to their side, accepting gay marriage as endorsed and sanctified by our God, and Christ.

No, not balanced. They insist we fall off the fence onto their side. Or, we are every hateful name they can think of, along with some choice cuss words.

I appreciate your viewpoint; however to me it sounds like you very much view it as a "us vs them" type of situation. I agree with everything you say.....the LGBT agenda is very pushy and downright hypocritical if you ask me. That being said, you have no obligation to reform your values despite what they think of you.....so leave that sort of contentious mentality to them and take no part in it. My 2 cents.
