a word I received from the Lord while praying this morning.
REPENT
"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,"
Romans 3:23
The Spirit impressed upon me the simple doctrine of Jesus Christ -
"to repent and believe in me"
and that this was the message for everyone - everywhere,
especially for "a choice land" - America
and the destruction that was about to take place.
"this is a land which is choice above all other lands;
wherefore he that doth possess it
shall serve God or shall be swept off; for it is the everlasting decree of God.
And it is not until the fulness of iniquity among the children of the land, that they are swept off.”
Ether 2
Serve God or be swept off this "Choice Land" !
Where much is given, much is required.
Have we lived up to the lease of the land ? NO !
3 Nephi 11
31 Behold, verily, verily, I say unto you, I will declare unto you my doctrine.
32 And this is my doctrine, and it is the doctrine which the Father hath given unto me; and I bear record of the Father, and the Father beareth record of me, and the Holy Ghost beareth record of the Father and me; and I bear record that the Father commandeth all men, everywhere, to repent and believe in me.
33 And whoso believeth in me, and is baptized, the same shall be saved; and they are they who shall inherit the kingdom of God.
34 And whoso believeth not in me, and is not baptized, shall be damned.
35 Verily, verily, I say unto you, that this is my doctrine, and I bear record of it from the Father; and whoso believeth in me believeth in the Father also; and unto him will the Father bear record of me, for he will visit him with fire and with the Holy Ghost.
36 And thus will the Father bear record of me, and the Holy Ghost will bear record unto him of the Father and me; for the Father, and I, and the Holy Ghost are one.
37 "And again I say unto you, ye must repent, and become as a little child, and be baptized in my name, or ye can in nowise receive these things."
38 "And again I say unto you, ye must repent, and be baptized in my name, and become as a little child, or ye can in nowise inherit the kingdom of God."
39 "Verily, verily, I say unto you, that this is my doctrine, and whoso buildeth upon this buildeth upon my rock, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against them."
40 And whoso shall declare more or less than this, and establish it for my doctrine, the same cometh of evil, and is not built upon my rock; but he buildeth upon a sandy foundation, and the gates of hell stand open to receive such when the floods come and the winds beat upon them.
41 Therefore, go forth unto this people, and declare the words which I have spoken, unto the ends of the earth.

Ether 2:11,12)
11 “And this cometh unto you, O ye Gentiles, that ye may know the decrees of God – that ye may repent, and not continue in your iniquities until the fulness come, that ye may not bring down the fulness of the wrath of God upon you as the inhabitants of the land have hitherto done.
12 Behold, this is a choice land, and whatsoever nation shall possess it shall be free from bondage, and from captivity, and from all other nations under heaven, if they will but serve the God of the land, who is Jesus Christ, who hath been manifested by the things which we have written.”
(Ether 2:9,10)
9 “And now, we can behold the decrees of God concerning this land, that it is a land of promise; and whatsoever nation shall possess it shall serve God, or they shall be swept off when the fulness of his wrath shall come upon them. And the fulness of his wrath cometh upon them when they are ripened in iniquity.
10 For behold, this is a land which is choice above all other lands; wherefore he that doth possess it shall serve God or shall be swept off; for it is the everlasting decree of God.
And it is not until the fulness of iniquity among the children of the land, that they are swept off.”
Ether says three times "swept off",
but the last time he says it, he doesn't say "if", he says it like it will happen.
"And it is not until the fulness of iniquity among the children of the land, that they are swept off.”

But we do need to be reminded daily of the necessity of repenting.
But a question or query I often have is: exactly what is it or what combination of wickedness is it that makes the cup full. What single or multiple wicked actions of the masses makes the cup full for God to "come out of His hiding place".
Hugh Nibley claimed that in the burning of Sodom and Gommorah is was more than just "sodomy" that "filled the cup" but that it was their "meanness of spirit", they completely lost their compassion/charity and delighted in inflicting pain and suffering on their fellow man.
Read the Book of Jasher version to get another view of their meanness.
But, look at us butchering our own offspring, that is about as mean as we can get, yet we keep marching on.
I marvel at the long suffering of God. Probably a very good thing we are not in charge.

sorry to disappoint you,
but I DO have to be obedient to the impressions of the spirit and where it leads me - what to do and say.

Re: REPENT
The first book of scripture I ever read was the Doctrine and Covenants. I was really struck by the large number of times the Lord tells us to repent, and to do so quickly.
