you sure you're going to heaven ?

Post by I AM »

are you really even a Christian - a follower of Christ ?

WAKE UP !

Matthew 22
37 Jesus said unto him,
Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Jesus said:

"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you,"

Luke 6
31 And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.
32 For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them.
33 And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same.

"Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren,
ye have done it unto me." Matt. 25:40

"But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant."

"Mosiah
Chapter 2:17 "And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom;
that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of
your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God."

If we look at the standard set for becoming a son of perdition in DC 76 very very few will sink to it. You simply have to rise to such a great height before you sink that low. Thus virtually everybody will go to heaven eventually.

For me, going to heaven is not the priority.
Creating Zion in the here and now is the priority. If we do our best to achieve this, the hereafter will take care of itself.

Focusing on heaven has contributed to this focus on dead works , checking lists off, etc.

“I’ve been baptized and confirmed , married in the temple, now I just need to not do anything bad and pay tithing and I’ll make it to the Celestial Kingdom.”

If we do as our English brother here says, our people would be better off. We would be looking for real, tangible, mighty change in ourselves right now, rather than awaiting it in the future. A group of individuals doing that is capable of creating Zion.

Why would anyone miss a video from a true Ninja warrior who apparently pulls over in his car off St George freeways to make videos about all things scriptural? So what if he has gone completely off the deep end in some of his spiritual pursuits leading to his unfortunate excommunication from the church. At least he helps stranded motorists who run out of gas. Kudos for that! 8-)

I watched the first 10 minutes. I don't have 40 minutes to spend on a video when I have no idea what it's about. Unless someone puts a summary of what to expect in the video or a text version of the video, I'll almost never watch it.

Not really, I spend time reading and watching spiritual things on topics that I study . If you’re asking me to watch a video without describing what it’s about when I can watch or read things whose content is KNOWN, why would I pick the 40 minute video without a description?

"as you wish" (like in the movie)
but, as I've already said
"and it's obvious if you even took the time to read my post

if by posting 5 scriptures (THE most important scriptures) of the things Jesus Christ has said -
including - "the first and great commandment
And the second is like unto it"
just isn't that important to you -
then you certainly do not have time for God, and for your " neighbour ",
"love thy neighbour as thyself"
like in the video,
and to be a Christian .

I think that THE MOST IMPORTANT scriptures are in 2 Nephi 31 and 3 Nephi 11 / 3 Nephi 19, but I digress.

These things are important to me, I don't think anything I've done indicates that they aren't. I try to make it a point to help my fellow man, I think we have a duty to give to the hungry and the sick without reservation.

I do think it's silly for the guy to talk about how he gave up 20 minute of gym time to help someone and say it isn't hard.

Picture someone who works 45 hours a week, is still in school so he has 15 credits some of those classes will not allow absences or late work(Also expect 2 hours of homework for every hour of school), he also has to serve in the Young Men Presidency which takes a chunk out of at least 1 day of the week and then most important above all, he has his wife and children to tend to, maybe he has to pick them up somewhere every day. Taking 20 minutes out of THAT is a bit more difficult that sacrificing some time to get swoll.

That is the sacrifice we have to make, not gym time.

I don't think it's close-minded to not watch videos, because again, I'm not against watching them, I sometimes do. I just don't make time for them often. Similar to what Stahura said, I make time for what's important to me.

thanks, but
if that's the best you can do - nit pick at and criticize "gym time", then I think
you're trying to find excuses for not wanting to see what's really important, and the true point being made,
and defend what you had started.
I don't think that that's the most important point of the video "gym time"
or the meaning of my post.
but you can continue to defend what you feel is important,
instead of what I see, and what Christ says to be the most important thing.

"Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

I started watching but I was almost distracted by a guy dressed in a Superman shirt sitting in a Prius.

From what I watched, he didn't mention that rejecting the Lord's prophets will also dam you from Heaven. Not being baptized by one who holds the keys, and not receiving ordinances will also dam a person.

I agree with ya, and Stahura.
Videos are too long !
and you don't want to waste your time if it's something you're not sure you'll even like or interested in.
I myself skip through most videos - so I understand. :)
but I guess each of us has a different opinion about "what's important to them"

I hope Hell is a very big place because there sure are an awful lot of people who will be going in there.....

We are supposed to be working our our salvation with anxiety fear and trembling and Joseph Smith himself said that most of the members of the church would not make it to exaltation.

I am not trying to be all hellfire and damnation here, but as for myself, I am taking my salvation seriously and work towards it everyday.

I liked the video.

"Superman shirt" a.. right.
well that really says something about you and shows just how you think.
sure your name shouldn't be shallow - and not shadow?
because that sounds a little shallow to me- to judge others by the shirt they wear
and the way they look.
incredible.
I guess, to you at least,
you need to look like a bishop (suit and tie)
to be taken seriously.

YES
but I also think it's a tad "serious" - to judge others,
"judge not"
especially based on what they look like.
to even mention what a person looks like
or what they are wearing is, with out a doubt being "shallow".

That's funny. I didn't judge him at all, not even once. I mentioned that his shirt and his Prius were "almost" distracting.

So here you are judging me and calling me names for your inability to comprehend what I actually posted. This puts you in the category of "shallow" and of making stupid judgments. What a lame post you made- as expected.

incredible.
