Concerning recommend holders going back to the temple after they sin/transgress

Note that I am specifically referring to members who have received a temple recommend, but for one reason or the other they have slipped up. How long should they wait to go back to the temple? In your comments do you think the timing should be different for full-use holders versus limited-use. Do you think it depends upon the ordinance that they are planning on doing? A set time? Something else entirely?

When the Lord has forgiven them as witnessed to themselves by the spirit.

It depends on the sin. Yesterday I am sure I sinned walking from a parking space to the Mount Timpanogos temple. I always get very negative when I see those disgusting and highly offensive circuses in front of temples after weddings, and it almost felt like I had to run the gauntlet just to get to the door.
I highly recommend using the Holy Ghost and church policies to determine worthiness. If you have committed a severe offense then you are required to confess to priesthood leadership as part of the repentance process. For minor offenses you may be able to repent while in the temple or afterward.

When you feel like you are worthy is a good answer, but if you fooled yourself into thinking it was okay to do it, can't you fool yourself into feeling worthy? So that's where I hesitate and say maybe the waiting game is an appropriate one.
On the other hand, you are in Jesus' house and who else did Jesus eat with? Publicans and sinners? Yeah, unless it's hypocrasy or hate that you did, I don't think he has too big of a problem with it.

I am asking about the truly repentant, those that have forsaken their sin(s).

I put other because I think it's a combination of the top 3. I know that some may think it shouldn't be up to the bishop or stake president, but my experience shows that sometimes we are hardest on ourselves and may feel like we are never worthy. It might take a bishop or stake president to see past our judgment of ourselves to say, hey it's okay, you have taken the necessary steps of repentance.

Guess who wants you to lengthen out the time before you go the temple as long as possible. He is very good at whispering to you how bad you are and how you aren't worthy.

I agree.
