BYU pathway connect for all returned missionaries

Just saw an announcement that all returned missionaries are now automatically admitted into BYU pathway worldwide connect. Does anybody know more about this program and what this announcement actually means. I saw it on Deseret news.

I saw that yesterday and thought it seemed strange - because isn't everybody who applies already accepted into the Pathways program? I've never heard of anyone being turned down or denied entrance into Pathways. And why would the Church think or assume that all returned missionaries would want to be automatically admitted into the Pathways program?

I was turned down. After they found out I was excepted into my local community college they said I was to smart for them.

Probably a marketing strategy.

I was just kidding. I don't think anyone can get turned down from that program.
