Do You Believe This? I do

“Another example of revelation is this guidance given to President Joseph F. Smith: “I believe we move and have our being in the presence of heavenly messengers and of heavenly beings. We are not separate from them. … We are closely related to our kindred, to our ancestors … who have preceded us into the spirit world. We cannot forget them; we do not cease to love them; we always hold them in our hearts, in memory, and thus we are associated and united to them by ties that we cannot break. … If this is the case with us in our finite condition, surrounded by our mortal weaknesses, … how much more certain it is … to believe that those who have been faithful, who have gone beyond … can see us better than we can see them; that they know us better than we know them. … We live in their presence, they see us, they are solicitous for our welfare, they love us now more than ever. For now they see the dangers that beset us; … their love for us and their desire for our well being must be greater than that which we feel for ourselves.”

What Do Angels Do?
Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles has given us a succinct explanation of what angels do:
“From the beginning down through the dispensations, God has used angels as His emissaries in conveying love and concern for His children. …
“Usually such beings are not seen. Sometimes they are. But seen or unseen they are always near. Sometimes their assignments are very grand and have significance for the whole world. Sometimes the messages are more private. Occasionally the angelic purpose is to warn. But most often it is to comfort, to provide some form of merciful attention, guidance in difficult times. …

Yes.
I've mentioned this before, but President Nelson has referred to it as "parenting beyond the veil". Our loved ones are closer than we realize. Many people think that warnings or whisperings to them of danger or commands to do something are always the Holy Ghost. Not so. His job is to testify of Christ. Those other things are probably more from our loved ones.
I think I've also mentioned the experience of my youngest son several years ago. The morning that my husband's youngest brother passed away in his sleep, and before we knew about it, my son was getting ready for school and he heard a very clear voice in his right ear say "It's going to be okay". (Mind my son was only 13 at the time) He turned abruptly thinking someone was in the bathroom with him. He saw no one. He shrugged it off until I told him later of his uncle's passing. As he began to sob, after a minute he stopped short and looked at me shocked. He then told me of what had happened that morning. He knew at that point that he was being comforted. You see in his short life up to that point, he had watched a couple of aunts and uncles and 2 grandparents pass away in a 5 year period of time. He got to the point of hating funerals. He saw more deceased bodies than anybody twice his age. It began to be kind of a paranoid thing to worry about who in the family was going to die next. But there was no doubt in his mind what he had heard that morning. The voice was very clear.
As one who has done genealogy for over 15 years, I keep waiting for that really crazy special experience with those for whom I'm doing work for. I haven't really had anything. There have been a handful of times where I felt the person present, but nothing overwhelming, like seeing or hearing anything. I keep waiting for my g-g-grandfather to come to me to help me solve the family mystery of who his parents were....

Any experiences with feeling the presence of an ancestor?
I have heard other people tell such stories, but I have never observed a manifestation of an ancestor's presence.
As I write this, I am sitting in my underwear about to go to bed. I would rather my ancestors didn't see me this way.

I've always wondered about that? Frankly I don't think they even care. Their thoughts are on a "higher plane".

Yeah, and for different reasons. Nothing quite like having a dead ancestor rebuke you and tell you to get your life in order.

LOL, I feel sorry for them!
