Hi LittleNipper!
Some of my favorite Christian hymns (that we have in the lds hymn book too):

The Lord is my Shepherd

Be still My Soul

Nearer My God to Thee

How Great Thou Art

I played this song at an alzheimer’s part of an elderly home. This older lady sang along with me. That’s pretty common so I didn’t think much about it, until afterwards, a nurse told me in all the time she’d been around, she’d never heard that lady say a word, until she sang that song just then.

I listen to a bible network instead of BYU's radio station. Much better music, in general. A lot of solos, duets, small group singing, etc., and I can actually understand the words! Not a lot of HeartSell, either; just heart.

I've loved this one from the first time I heard it played. It is one of the very few hymns that's sung to a waltz. I do remember that when roller skating at a teen youth group outing this was played. It is lively and very happy indeed!

Jesus IS Coming Again! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOQ8XpKFh0M

Jesus Is Coming Again

Marvelous message we bring,
Glorious carol we sing,
Wonderful word of the King,
Jesus is coming again!
Chorus
Coming again, Coming again,
May be morning, may be noon,
May be evening and may be soon!
Coming again, Coming again;
O what a wonderful day it will be -
Jesus is coming again!

Forest and flower exclaim,
Mountain and meadow the same,
All earth and heaven proclaim,
Jesus is coming again!

Chorus
Coming again, Coming again,
May be morning, may be noon,
May be evening and may be soon!
Coming again, Coming again;
O what a wonderful day it will be -
Jesus is coming again!

Standing before Him at last,
Trial and trouble all past,
Crowns at His feet we will cast,
Jesus is coming again!

Chorus
Coming again, Coming again,
May be morning, may be noon,
May be evening and may be soon!
Coming again, Coming again;
O what a wonderful day it will be -
Jesus is coming again!

My aunt and uncle are Christians and whenever we get together with them for a meal, we hold hands, in a circle, as we pray. Afterwards, my aunt once sang part of this song (I hadn’t heard before)...

Will the Circle Be Unbroken

Btw, Christians can have a positive influence on us Mormons - in some ways better examples of focusing on following and doing as Christ rather than a particular brand of religion. I’m grateful for their goodness.

I'll Fly Away was one hymn that was sung at my mother's funeral a few years ago. She loved that one. The funny thing is, it has never been about a "religion" for me. Christianity is not what one knows but whom one knows and is known by. Religions are all governmental regimentation and control. Friendship is so much more deeper and personal.

I can relate - I see benefits (like a sense of community) in religion, but much of the illogical or literally taken parables & dogma, don’t seem godly. Though maybe some can help lay a foundation, until one can realize truer meaning. Still, ultimately, it’s more about connecting directly to God.

“I’ll Fly Away” sounds like an inspiring song - especially for such an occasion.

The following isn’t really a hymn, but is also about life after death...
