Remember the example of Michael:

Jude1:9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.

Do not put yourself under Satan's power by letting the spirit of contention enter your heart.

The Book of Mormon is a warning for our day to be sure, but we are not living in Captain Moroni's times in that we are not called to fight, but to build.

The prophet is not leading us astray when he tells us to focus on gathering Israel.

Do not be deceived.

The Book of Mormon was written specifically for our day, as answer for the trials we will face in these times both within and without the church. We should follow, very closely, Captain Moroni and the rest of the prophets in that book.

We are certainly to contend against the church of the devil.
"Contend against no church, save it be the church of the devil." - D&C 18: 20

What is the church of the devil?
"Behold there are save two churches only; the one is the church of the Lamb of God, and the other is the church of the devil; wherefore, whoso belongeth not to the church of the Lamb of God belongeth to that great church, which is the mother of abominations; and she is the whore of all the earth." 1 Nephi 14:10.

I wonder this a lot. I am pretty confident that the GAs and mission presidents suffer quite a bit from corruption (because I've known some.) I wonder if they at the top are like "you will need personal revelation" because otherwise we would follow our GAs and stake presidents and so forth. And I wonder if the one mighty and strong will have to come for this purpose. Maybe the top of the church isn't bad and maybe they are kind of warning us about the state of the church and that's what all these big changes are going to mean.

Or maybe it's just them at the top directing things and it's either supposed to be this way or not. But one thing that I always keep in mind is that the church is the worst company to work for.

So, I’ve heard.
This reminds me of the need to trust only in God - not others, not even “prophets.”

Have you ever read or seen the series, “Divergent”? It reminded me a bit of trends. The spirit and feelings are important but so are critical thinking and common sense. “There must needs be opposition in all things” including the church. Good is made to look evil and visa versa.

It’s set in a post-apocalyptic “nice” government-tyranny which dictates social classes and is “supposed to” create an utopian society. I don’t want to give away an ending, but one of the morals is, good is often portrayed evil & visa versa, and most tend to go along with herd mentality (similar to today with religious or political herd mentalities & ideologies). The masses want to label and box each person in, but nobody’s that 1-dimensional.
