Let the hate flow through you.thestock wrote: ↑May 1st, 2019, 6:37 amRight. A small and insignificant fraction of the world's population has true understanding of a doctrine that claims black people rejected the Priesthood in the premortal existence and everyone else is just misguided. It wasn't racist and anyone who understaands the true nature of the restriction knows it.

100% wrong.Robin Hood wrote: ↑April 30th, 2019, 3:40 pmThe priesthood restriction was not racist.thestock wrote: ↑April 30th, 2019, 2:50 pmThe world is changing and the Church and its institutions like BYU are getting left behind. Imagine if we stayed true to the racist doctrines? Can you even imagine what our church might look like today if we preached the racist teachings from the past and refused the Priesthood to black people still? I dont think the Church has much, if any, "changing" to do with regard to LGBT but they have historically, even recently, been very cold towards that segment of our population and people won't stand for it. They will come to define bigotry and hatred with our church.....and they wont necessarily be wrong if we don't change.Believing Joseph wrote: ↑April 30th, 2019, 2:44 pm Is it just me, or does it seem like half the time that Mormons are in the news it's for some iteration of this controversy on which the Church has still not changed its position. We literally hold the same position we've always held, and that every other church held till recently, but the newsmongers still feel like it's the defining trait of our religion and that the main reason to mention us is to talk about what bigots we are.
It reminds me of the obituary that the New York Times published for President Monson last year where the first sentence was a mention of the changes - ordaining women and approving same sex marriage - that liberals wanted but that he didn't make.
So his most noteworthy characteristic is that he did the same thing as every previous LDS president . . . and every Pope . . . and every Protestant leader up until half a century ago.
I really wish the media would start taking our religion more seriously and report the actual goings-on, rather than making more hay about a belief which, while it's unpopular with the world, has pretty-much stayed the same and therefore isn't news in the real sense of the word.
I think the priesthood ban was 100% racist in the beginning. In the last half of the ban I'm not sure it was, it was just a case of "Follow the Prophet" and "The Prophet can't lead us astray" that caused them to continue the ban. (I know there were still racist members/leaders throughout the 50's-80's but I don't think it was straight racism preventing blacks from having priesthood like in the 1800's and early 1900's.Col. The people in media and academia who make those kind of judgements toward our Church are neither unbiased nor honest. In fact they are either parroting lies and deceit or actively manufacturering them. One doesn't even have to be a Mormon to see this, I can make a perfectly secular case for why those people are a societal cancer. Never the less "the world" can change all it wants, just because it does doesn't make it correct nor does it mean our Church should bow to it's trends. You know one thing the globalists elite that peddle homosexuality and feminism didn't count on is the Internet and it's the most powerful weapon we have against those types and their shill media.thestock wrote: ↑April 30th, 2019, 2:50 pmThe world is changing and the Church and its institutions like BYU are getting left behind. I agree with you about the media. The church doesnt need to change or "bow to the world" to treat all people better, even those who disagree with our principles.....[email protected] wrote: ↑May 1st, 2019, 9:15 pmThe people in media and academia who make those kind of judgements toward our Church are neither unbiased nor honest.
