But the warnings and cries of repentance are never for the WHOLE church? Just for certain individuals?
Do we have the sealed plates? Have we established zion?

Are there still many many saints striving with all their heart for these things? Are the leaders honest in heart, full of Charity and speaking on behalf of the lord? Does the church still have the authority the keys and the vehicle for the fullness of the gospel and it’s blessings?

I choose to have hope and faith and sustain and support the leaders that this church will prepare the world for the Lord’s return, rather than rail on perceived weakness, create division, and sit around and wait for something else all the while crying that we need a servant to set the church in order. How about we all just do what the leaders are asking. REPENT!

you know, you are a piece of work.
DO YOU EVEN READ THE SCRIPTURES !
NO ! I didn't think so.
Is this really warranted? :) Don’t be upset if I don’t agree with your Avraham Gileadi interpretation of Isaiah. I have full faith and confidence that the leaders who have been called will warn us and have warned us of destruction that will come our way if we don’t make changes. Let’s not forget “time is running out”
Yes, time is running out. The first solar eclipse sign in the heavens is nearly two years behind us. Nobody in Church leadership talks about it in the Church. I seem to recall Samuel the Lamanite talking about signs in the heavens.

The next solar eclipse, completing the X over America is about 5 years away. Time IS running out. The TRUMP has been sounded. No question Trump will win next year. His name is a sign from heaven, and his two terms coincidentally fall neatly within the two solar eclipses. How obvious is the sign God is trying to give us (not that Trump is angelic)? His name is the very same word universally used in translations of the Bible. Yes, time is running out!

Did you answer the challenge above about whether the warnings to the Gentiles in the Book of Mormon, esp in the latter chapters of 2nd Nephi, refer specifically to the Mormon Gentiles?

Which warnings apply to the Mormons?

Would love to hear your exegesis of that question.
The warnings apply to anyone who is not repentant. Do I think that the keys will be taken from the earth, the quorum of the 12 and first Presidency replaced by someone else, that they are doing something other than what they were called to do? Absolutely not.

The work will roll forward with those who are repentant, who listen to the call from a prophet to help gather Israel on both sides of the veil with greater effort, seek to establish zion, deepen conversion to Christ in the home, and prepare the world for the second coming.

“The Standard of Truth has been erected; no unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing; persecutions may rage, mobs may combine, armies may assemble, calumny may defame, but the truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly, and independent, till it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept every country, and sounded in every ear, till the purposes of God shall be accomplished, and the Great Jehovah shall say the work is done.”

Let's repent of our leader worship and forsake it for the sin it is. The Lord is a jealous God and hates idolatry above all.

I think putting anything before god can be idolatry, but I also think that people who sustain and have respect for the leaders are falsely labeled and far from worshiping them. Are there some members that may actually worship them?? Who knows, I havnt met them.

Can you unwittingly commit idolatry? For example with a car, your house, Worldly things, sports athletes, celebrities?

So let me ask you a question. You've read the Book of Mormon I'm guessing more than a handful of times. Youve read the warnings issued to the people living in the last days. Youve read the words of many Prophets in the book of Mormon pleading for the gentiles who receive these things to repent. Do you truly believe that none of these warnings or calls to repentance are for us as a Church? Can you honestly do a self assessment of where we stand today and say, "nope, those messages are for the other churches, not for us." I'm serious, does it not even cross your mind at all that it could be us in 2 Nephi 28 that Nephi is talking about when he says "Wo unto him that is at ease IN zion, yea wo into him that crieth all is well!" Has it ever even crossed your mind? Even a little bit? Seriously, just what if 2 Nephi 28 is all about us? Isn't it worth at least turning to God and asking, "am I guilty of these things? Are we as a church guilty of these things?" Does it really hurt to ask? I assure you many of the people here you are arguing with have asked these things, and maybe, just maybe you should consider that they may have recieved answers to their prayers that we are indeed guilty of many of the things the Book of Mormon warns us of.
Do I think that there are members of the church that are guilty of these things and need repentance? Yes. Do I think that those who lead the church are aware of this? Yes. If you don't just listen to conference, President Nelsons main message was repentance. If only we would hearken to a prophets voice we might actually start to establish Zion, experience deep conversion, get access to power in our priesthood, and receive some additional revelations and scripture as a whole.

How about we all just do what the leaders are asking. REPENT!
I get it. Before I had a change of heart and viewed things the way I used to, I would have said the same thing. I would have rejected anything that sounded negative against the church or its leaders. I never realized that by rejecting what I thought was negative, I was rejecting the very thing that was holding me back from receiving more of Gods word. Sometimes its ok to focus on the negative. Maybe the negative is not always "negative", we just perceive it that way because it threatens what we have spent our whole lives believing.

Can I ask you just one more question? You say that the Church as a whole (including its leaders) are not who these warnings are for. You say that there will never be another people who take the torch and run with it, but it will be us (the gentiles) who continue with the torch through the tribulation and on to build Zion. Can you please just consider the following:

3 Nephi 16

10 And thus commandeth the Father that I should say unto you: At that day when the Gentiles shall sin against my gospel, and shall reject the fulness of my gospel, and shall be lifted up in the pride of their hearts above all nations, and above all the people of the whole earth, and shall be filled with all manner of lyings, and of deceits, and of mischiefs, and all manner of hypocrisy, and murders, and priestcrafts, and whoredoms, and of secret abominations; and if they shall do all those things, and shall reject the fulness of my gospel, behold, saith the Father, I will bring the fulness of my gospel from among them.

11 And then will I remember my covenant which I have made unto my people, O house of Israel, and I will bring my gospel unto them.

13 But if the Gentiles will repent and return unto me, saith the Father, behold they shall be numbered among my people, O house of Israel.

15 But If they will not turn unto me, and hearken unto my voice, I will suffer them, yea, I will suffer my people, O house of Israel, that they shall go through among them, and shall tread them down, and they shall be as salt that hath lost its savor, which is thenceforth good for nothing but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of my people, O house of Israel.

I have to ask you... WHO IS THE SALT?

D&C 101

39 When men are called unto mine everlasting gospel, and covenant with an everlasting covenant, they are accounted as the salt of the earth and the savor of men;

40 They are called to be the savor of men; therefore, if that salt of the earth lose its savor, behold, it is thenceforth good for nothing only to be cast out and trodden under the feet of men.

Can you PLEASE prayerfully consider this? The Salt always has, and always will refer to Gods Covenant people. Re-read that last verse I posted from 3 Nephi 16. It is so clear that we are the salt. He is not referring to "the other Gentile churches", He is speaking to the Gentiles that are the Salt. He says that If the Gentiles do not repent, THEY SHALL BE AS SALT THAT HAS LOST ITS SAVOR. In that very chapter we then read what will happen next! The gospel will be taken from among us and given back to THEM. Who is them?

Please do not pawn this off as Gileadi rhetoric. This is not from Gileadi, this is directly word for word in 3 Nephi 16. It could not be more clear. Will you please at least consider it? Even if it sounds negative, would it really hurt to pray about it?

We just might be more guilty of those sins, as a church, than we'd ever want to admit. The book "Exoneration of Emma, Joseph, and Hyrum" makes an interesting case for the fulfillment of that scripture.

As for idolatry... Webster's defines it as either idol worship or the following:
- extreme admiration, love, or reverence for something or someone.

We're definitely at least guilty of that.

Are the leaders of this church full of pride, lyings, deceits, mischief, hypocrisy, MURDERS, priestcrafts WHOREDOMS, and SECRET ABOMINATIONS, and reject the gospel of Jesus CHRIST?

Do you know many members murdering and a part of secret abominations? And I will pray, that you may be able to discern truth from error.
Do you expect wolves in sheep's clothing to be easy to discern at first blush?

Even the very elect are likely to be deceived.

Let me go down the list (and I can provide plenty of examples of each):

Pride - check! In spades.

Lyings, deceits and mischief- check! And well-documented.

Hypocrisy - check! Like rolling out a very visible self-reliance program, at the same time they persecute those who are self-reliant on the Lord.

MURDERS - check! Alma confesses to "murdering" (strong word) many people, and he defines that as leading people astray, when he was out trying to destroy the church with the sons of Mosiah. But the fact is most mainstream Mormons vote for politicians who take us to war, in which our military goes and kills hundreds of thousands, even millions of children of God in other countries. the military-industrial complex is alive and well and loves war. Supporting politicians who work for the war machine is in my book equivalent to being guilty of murder. The government is our agent, an extension of us.

Priestcrafts - check! In spades. Proof is there is the "follow the prophet" mantra that we incessantly hear. You can be a witness, drTanner, that we practice priestcraft in spades. Here's the question for you. I'm going to put you on the stand, or deposition you: When general authorities give their speeches, who do they quote the most?

I know the answer so let me answer the question for you. They quote themselves. Guaranteed! If you were to do a research project and tally the number of times a general authority quotes another General authority, esp an apostle, you would find the ratio to be probably 95-1. 95 quotations of themselves to the one non General authority quote. And get this, the quotes are not revelations, they're just other quotes from General Conference. What is the message? It's obvious. You gotta follow the Brethren!

WHOREDOMS - check!

SECRET ABOMINATIONS - everything about the top leadership is secret. Their meetings, their councils that they seek deep to hide, etc.

Reject the fulness gospel of Jesus Christ - check!

If the fulness of the Gospel is the idea that we can be redeemed in the flesh and that is a chief aim of the Book of Mormon, to communicate that reality and goal for us, then the leadership has rejected the fulness of gospel. It decided back in 2014 to systematically persecute and excommunicate those with that belief system. They kick against the pricks, persecute the saints and have lost their priesthood due to their unrighteous dominion.

The church clearly teaches a dependence on itself, and persecutes those who have a spiritual self-sufficiency, and who rely on the Lord for direction and revelation, notwithstanding they still appreciate and value the revelations that come through a true servant, were such a servant to exist.

Why do all of the prophets, seers, and revelators wear fancy suits? Honestly. Is that a requirement? Oh, apparently it is! Let me quote from the manual.

I was in a Gospel Essentials class late last year when we were reading the section on prophets. It said this (this just took me one minute to research on the Church website). It's chapter 9 and I quote:
A prophet may come from various stations in life. He may be young or old, highly educated or unschooled. He may be a farmer, a lawyer, or a teacher. Ancient prophets wore tunics and carried staffs. Modern prophets wear suits and carry briefcases. What, then, identifies a true prophet? A true prophet is always chosen by God and called through proper priesthood authority (see Articles of Faith 1:5).
Do you see the effort to condition the minds of the people who read this nonsense? I sat there in class literally squirming in my seat. What atrocious "doctrine" was being taught in that class that day by the manual. I couldn't say anything because, heck, people would look at me like I was apostate. I pick my battles.

The point is all of our leadership look alike. They are following a script. and part of that script says you have to look good, you have to look the part, as if a true servant called of God would have a briefcase and be wearing a nice $3,000 suit. But I'm sure a wolf would invest in a very nice sheep costume!

REPENT!

D&C 101

39 When men are called unto mine everlasting gospel, and covenant with an everlasting covenant, they are accounted as the salt of the earth and the savor of men;

Must you receive the Second Comforter in the Flesh, in this life to receive an Inheritance in God's Kingdom?

D&C 101

39 When men are called unto mine everlasting gospel, and covenant with an everlasting covenant, they are accounted as the salt of the earth and the savor of men;

It is clear to you who have made up your mind, but you forgot to highlight the part of the verse that makes it clear who this particular scripture is referring to.

In spades. Proof there's the follow the prophet mantra that we incessantly hear.

Hey, slightly off topic question.

Must you receive the Second Comforter in the Flesh, in this life to receive an Inheritance in God's Kingdom?
I don't think that is technically and literally the case. Perhaps it could be in your dying moments. Like Stephen.

I don't want to put God in a box and say it has to be such and such a way.

But we know by definition in Ether 3 that seeing the Lord while in the flesh, meaning in mortality, is by very definition what redemption is.

REPENT!

I think this Chapter is better to show how we receive Salvation.

Mosiah Chapter 4

2 And they had viewed themselves in their own carnal state, even less than the dust of the earth. And they all cried aloud with one voice, saying: O have mercy, and apply the atoning blood of Christ that we may receive forgiveness of our sins, and our hearts may be purified; for we believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who created heaven and earth, and all things; who shall come down among the children of men.
3 And it came to pass that after they had spoken these words the Spirit of the Lord came upon them, and they were filled with joy, having received a remission of their sins, and having peace of conscience, because of the exceeding faith which they had in Jesus Christ who should come, according to the words which king Benjamin had spoken unto them.

4 And king Benjamin again opened his mouth and began to speak unto them, saying: My friends and my brethren, my kindred and my people, I would again call your attention, that ye may hear and understand the remainder of my words which I shall speak unto you.

5 For behold, if the knowledge of the goodness of God at this time has awakened you to a sense of your nothingness, and your worthless and fallen state—Referring literally to what just happened in verse 2(Spiritual Rebirth)

6 I say unto you, if ye have come to a knowledge of the goodness of God, and his matchless power, and his wisdom, and his patience, and his long-suffering towards the children of men; and also, the atonement which has been prepared from the foundation of the world, that thereby salvation might come to him that should put his trust in the Lord, and should be diligent in keeping his commandments, and continue in the faith even unto the end of his life, I mean the life of the mortal body—

7 I say, that this is the man who receiveth salvation, through the atonement which was prepared from the foundation of the world for all mankind, which ever were since the fall of Adam, or who are, or who ever shall be, even unto the end of the world.

8 And this is the means whereby salvation cometh. And there is none other salvation save this which hath been spoken of; neither are there any conditions whereby man can be saved except the conditions which I have told you.

9 Believe in God; believe that he is, and that he created all things, both in heaven and in earth; believe that he has all wisdom, and all power, both in heaven and in earth; believe that man doth not comprehend all the things which the Lord can comprehend.

10 And again, believe that ye must repent of your sins and forsake them, and humble yourselves before God; and ask in sincerity of heart that he would forgive you; and now, if you believe all these things see that ye do them.

11 And again I say unto you as I have said before, that as ye have come to the knowledge of the glory of God, or if ye have known of his goodness and have tasted of his love, and have received a remission of your sins, which causeth such exceedingly great joy in your souls, even so I would that ye should remember, and always retain in remembrance, the greatness of God, and your own nothingness, and his goodness and long-suffering towards you, unworthy creatures, and humble yourselves even in the depths of humility, calling on the name of the Lord daily, and standing steadfastly in the faith of that which is to come, which was spoken by the mouth of the angel.

12 And behold, I say unto you that if ye do this ye shall always rejoice, and be filled with the love of God, and always retain a remission of your sins; and ye shall grow in the knowledge of the glory of him that created you, or in the knowledge of that which is just and true.

In other words, the man that receives Salvation is he who has been Spiritually Born of God. Anything more or less than this is not Christs Doctrine.

Anyways, don't want to derail the thread I just wanted to know what you'd have to say on this topic.

Hey, slightly off topic question.

Must you receive the Second Comforter in the Flesh, in this life to receive an Inheritance in God's Kingdom?
Do you believe in baptisms for the dead and other the other vicarious ordinances for those being taught on the other side?
Yes, why do you ask?
Did those individuals receive the second comforter while in the flesh?
Your line of questions leads me to believe you think I think you must receive the Second Comforter in the flesh, I don't. I just wanted to know what Topcat had to say on it. I was just curious. It helps me understand his perspective.

Haha.

If you find one, let me know I've been meaning to get one. People who know me, in my family especially, would appreciate me wearing one of those around once in awhile. There is an Illuminati under every rock and around every corner and in every Hollywood movie of course. So they say.

DrTanner, I'm wondering if you have ever read any articles out there when you Google the search terms, "Mormon mind control" or something similar? We could be the target of some very sophisticated mind control techniques. Not even kidding. You are 100% sure that your confirmation bias doesn't affect you, and that mine does affect me. Perhaps reading some of the articles out there might give you some food for thought.

I tend to agree with your assessment. And I've studied Mosiah 5 many, many times.

I have had the baptism of fire. I have been born again (having that wicked spirit rooted out of my breast and no longer desiring anyting evil but desiring good as a born again soul), and can testify of the change of heart that comes as you yield yourself to Christ and make sacrifices to please Him.

I have had the knowledge that the path I am on is in accordance with God's will.

Part of Christ's doctrine is to become as a little child, so with that being said, I confess I don't understand things, and don't understand most things, especially the things of godliness. I have not seen into the heavens. I have not been in the presence of God. I've not communed with Him.

That is something I do seek, however.

I would like to know more about the covenant that the people in Mosiah 5 entered into. I wish I was there that day. It appears that they became sons and daughters of Christ. Was there an adoption? Is there more to the story there? As legal administrator, did King Benjamin oversee some type of special covenantal ordinance?

Do you believe in baptisms for the dead and other the other vicarious ordinances for those being taught on the other side?
Yes, why do you ask?
Did those individuals receive the second comforter while in the flesh?
Your line of questions leads me to believe you think I think you must receive the Second Comforter in the flesh, I don't. I just wanted to know what Topcat had to say on it. I was just curious. It helps me understand his perspective.
Just illustrating one way to walk through the answer.

D&C 101

39 When men are called unto mine everlasting gospel, and covenant with an everlasting covenant, they are accounted as the salt of the earth and the savor of men;

It is clear to you who have made up your mind, but you forgot to highlight the part of the verse that makes it clear who this particular scripture is referring to.

Speaking of costumes, it may take me purchasing one that involves a tin foil hat to believe what you have here applies to the current leaders of our church. :)
Actually these quotes from the Prophet Joseph have a lot more application when it comes to all the accusations being leveled against church leaders that are flying around in this thread than do tin foil hats. :)

"The eagerness to accuse is from the devil."

"The spirit that seeks only to accuse, that can only delight itself in the failings and errors of mankind, so born of hell as only to find delight in the defects of humanity. . . . It is the very work of Satan, and his servants."

"An individual . . . with . . . [an] abhorrence of evil [joins the Church] . . . . He sets himself upon the watch to detect the failings of others, deeming that he is doing God [a] service in being so employed, and thus is he decoyed into the occupation of the great master of evil, to be the accuser of the brethren. And during the time thus occupied by him, he considers himself actuated by the purest motives, arising from a detestation of sin, . . . . Yet mark the subtlety of Satan in thus leading men into a false position. Such a course, in the first place, probably arose from the purest of motives, and perhaps the individual was instrumental in rectifying some error; he feels a satisfaction in having done so, his self-esteem is gratified, and ere he is aware, he is seeking for another opportunity of doing the same, . . . continually set[ting] himself up as being capable of sitting in judgment upon others, and of rectifying by his own ability the affairs of the kingdom of God."

My impression of the restraint that is used by the brethren is one of awe, their refraining from condemning those who are constantly maligning them for just about any reason under the sun, yes, occasionally you hear a word about how they are treated, of course, but man I just want to go out and kick the butts of all these liars and sophists who seek to condemn those whose foot bottoms they cannot rise to. My respect for who the Lord chooses to lead His Church due to their obvious love for people is something that I would never have expected to find in my life and yet it is undeniable, to me.

I am conscious of a potential bias. It is tough to express the depths one has wrestled with God with questions on an anonymous internet forum. I am naturally a very curious person and probably wore my parents out with questions, and once out of the home I questioned everyone about just about everything. Beyond people however I have wearied the Lord with honest petitions, general questions, and my status before him. He has answered many of those questions in unmistakable ways and some for which no words can describe. Some of those answers have come through gut wrenching experiences that I am grateful to have endured, but would never want to repeat. I also believe that questions such as these and the status of his church and leaders are of such importance (because they shape so much of what we do and how we act) he does not leave us wondering or guessing about.
