I can find articles from other religions that equate Babylon to Rome but nothing LDS.

Is this a stupid question? I thought I would get more responses by now.

I found out a few months ago that Ahasuerus the persian king referenced in The book of Esther was likely Xerxes of 300/King Leonidas fame. I found that it helped me understand the old testament timeline a little better if I could line it up with secular history. Esther clearly occurred during a time when ancient city state greece was beginning to decline. I know that both Greece and Rome had a lot of depravity. I also know that babylon can mean different civilizations depending upon the reference/time period. The bible dictionary says that the Babylon referenced in revelations is likely Rome.

Is Babylon in the old testament ever referring to Greece or Rome, or is it a completely separate civilization during that period?

I thought it was the city where the tower was built. The Babylonians were destroyed by... the Assyrians? The Assyrians were taken out by the Greeks, and the Greeks the Romans? Something like that.
