Why look elsewhere

From Elder Christofferson:

“the Spirit made clear to me that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is uniquely empowered and commissioned to accomplish the necessary preparations for the Lord’s Second Coming; indeed, it was restored for that purpose. Can you find anywhere else a people who embrace the present era as the prophesied “dispensation of the fulness of times,” in which God has purposed to “gather together in one all things in Christ”?8 If you don’t find here a community intent on accomplishing what needs to be accomplished for both the living and the dead to prepare for that day, if you don’t find here an organization willing to commit vast amounts of time and funds to the gathering and preparation of a covenant people ready to receive the Lord, you won’t find it anywhere.”

I am compelled to ask, "Why hasn't the Church accomplished the necessary preparations for the Lord's Second Coming?"

My answer to this question is, because of the wickedness of the saints.

Probably because we who are in the church are not trying hard enough, waiting, or looking elsewhere. But you know what they say.... the best time to plant a tree was....

Time to plant!

Jacob 1:
18 For I, Jacob, and my brother Joseph had been consecrated priests and teachers of this people, by the hand of Nephi.

19 And we did magnify our office unto the Lord, taking upon us the responsibility, answering the sins of the people upon our own heads if we did not teach them the word of God with all diligence; wherefore, by laboring with our might their blood might not come upon our garments; otherwise their blood would come upon our garments, and we would not be found spotless at the last day.
The burden of leadership is great with the responsibility of answering the sins of the people upon one's own head if it is done improperly.

And from the messages for us to repent in conference it sounds as if they are aware of this.
