Reeeeeeeaaaaaally? How about the talks on the Second Coming? The Gathering of the Lost Tribes?
How about President Nelson calling us to repentance? How about that moment when he looked us all square in the eye and stated:"Time is running out"?
People can say GC was just more of the same, but I disagree.
NOTHING out of the norm happened at GC??

Oh you mean like the talks about the Second Coming I have been hearing for 40 years? And the 12 Tribes gathering for 40 years? And the talks on repentance that I have ignored for 40 years? Booooooooring

He is a little late. AOC has been prophesying of this for weeks now. It seems to be a tactic used by all who have authority. Make the populace fear and turn to them for safety.
"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary." - HL Mencken
Not only is that the whole aim of practical politics, but seems to be the whole aim of any authority/power relationship, especially under the all encompassing FTP rule.

A lot of people were predicting that we would all be walking around with those huge starbucks cups this morning. I don't know why someone would take up a habit that they had managed to avoid their whole life even if was suddenly allowed. It took me ten years to stop soda. The last thing I would do is start up another habit forming drink.
I knew there was no chance ever that they would change the WOW to allow coffee.

Here's the thing: I have read many of the comments made on this board about everything from the church being a corperate/political entity to it being a corrupt, and apostate version of what had been restored by the Lord through Joseph Smith, to President Nelson being little more than a corrupt figurehead, to the temple being a diluted, iniquity friendly version of what it used to be. All of this has been chipping away at my lukewarm self. In fact, my apathy has been weighing so heavily on me, that I had forgotten what the Light looked and felt like.
The Prophet spoke comparatively little this go around; however, when he spoke at priesthood, the stops in my ears, and scales on my eyes began to crack. Those cracks became fissures when he spoke at the end of General Conference, and although they remain somewhat in place, I can now at least see my hands enough to reach up and tear them from myself. That is just what I am going to do.
I have long been tired of being apathetic and miserable. I am ready to step back into the Light, rather than just go through the motions.
