No changes!

Who guessed that one?

Changes have been happening - just not in General Conference. Perhaps President Nelson is preparing us to look outside our expected avenues as the church becomes more fully restored.

I'm glad. They probably realized announcing all these policy changes was turning conference weekend into a spectacle. Mormons got nothing better to do than gossip and rumormonger apparently.

There has basically been a major change every month this year. There is an upcoming announcement for the Salt Lake Temple and surrounding area on April 19th. Plus, the big announcement was on Friday for this conference. There was also more temples and renovations announced.

Exactly, rather than focusing on Christ and repenting we'd rather focus upon what new things are coming.

The pioneers that built the temples at the beginning and their great sacrifice. Where is our great sacrifice?

Or screech hysterically when the announcements are made.

Hey, hysterical screeching is part of the program. We need to suss these things out! :D

Seems like the new pattern emerging is they make announcements of changes in the days preceding conference.

Since you asked- I did. I also guessed the Tooele temple.
I was wrong by guessing 12 Temples including one in Salt Lake.

And...so glad to hear that President Nelson didn't ban the eating of meat. A Sister I visit was afraid that would be announced.

Weren't there people who claimed they knew people, or had family members high up in the church that had insider information on various changes.
It wasn't just this forum either. My son was convinced the Church was going to legalize tea and coffee for some reason. (thank you Reddit)

I think you are confused. See, church and state are separate....

Yes, there were plenty of people who had insider information. Several people had a family member, friend, or father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate who received a mission call that said the term of service would be announced during conference. Of course not one of these people were able to provide a scan or screen shot of said mission call, but it was absolutely true!

That was my thought exactly when he said that.

The Jews Passover... not necessarily the Messiah's Passover (or the ancient Hebrew Passover)!

The one thing I was certain they were not going to do... to repent as a Church and to begin to live the higher laws, the New and Everlasting Covenant, and to seek to sacrifice what is required to renew that covenant and begin once again to build Zion. But that boat has long since sailed, and I have long since stopped believe they could ever do it!

Sorry!

Those in Zion weep for them...

The thing that irks me about general conference is that it isn't.
No conferring is done. It's basically a religious rally.

One sermon after another after another after......

When did it become so sterile?

It was refreshing to have just a plain old conference. A lot of great messages, I enjoyed hearing them and the manner that they are delivered. It isn't a spectacle to entertain, the delivery allows one to really listen and meditate on the words. I do enjoy a fiery sermon as well, but I like conference just the way it is. My favorite talks are ones that are doctrinally based, I mostly care about understanding doctrine and principles better.

I don't like sports analogy talks or anything 'cute' I prefer the style of Oaks, Bednar, Maxwell, and Packer but that's just me. I do enjoy a Holland and Uchtdorf talk as well, perhaps even a Christofferson. I do my best to take what I can from everyone else. It's common for me to not like a talk at all but then after reading it later find all kinds of great things. Some talks just read better, maybe it was the speaker's delivery.

I love the fact that we have conference though, it's a great tradition.

There are certainly speakers who appear to get it.
I was impressed by Elder McKay's sermon.

I was not impressed by Pres. Nelson requiring everyone to keep quiet and express no joy as he read out a list of new temples.
I thought that was petty.
