Thoughts on the Sealed Book of Mormon

I gave my review here after reading the book "The Sealed Book of Mormon".

I just wanted to share some additional thoughts based on some of the happenings related to this book.

It seems that most of the people who believe this Sealed Book of Mormon is legit are associated with the RLDS and Restoration Branches, including the witnesses to the plates.

The Brazilian group went to the trouble of creating Book of Mormon plates and the witnesses who handled these plates believe them to be real.

So, what now?...

The book, while mostly being nothing new, teaches its believers to live the United Order and law of consecration (From "Acts of the Three Nephites"). Therefore you could make the assumption that this will result in a financial benefit to the Brazilian group. Also, before the book was published, the Brazilians had stated that they needed financial assistance to make this whole translation & publishing endeavor possible.

Meanwhile, in Missouri, Joseph F. Smith (a descendant of Joseph Smith through his son Alexander Smith) is planning "The Unifying of the Church Conference".

This conference seems to be an attempt to unite some of the various Restoration Branches and RLDS break-offs, with Joseph F. Smith as their prophet. They plan on calling new Apostles. Most of the conference will focus on presentations about "The Sealed Book of Mormon".

This seems to be a shaky foundation to build a new Church on.

Especially after this is like the fourth? claim, so far, of "the translation of the sealed plates."

Well, two of the three male witnesses wear beards, so clearly it's not true...

Ha .. this reminds me of a discussion here where someone said they thought the sealed portion was a United Order manual. Nope.

I will be observing from the sidelines, trying not to mock or condemn them. Similar to how I observe, at an arm's distance, the actions of the remnant movement who believe in Denver Snuffer's calling.

Thanks for the review Brian.

I am reading the book now, and I will reserve judgement on it. It reads much differently than the Book of Mormon but I am keeping in mind that this is going from Portuguese to English. I am waiting for the one false doctrine, most fraudulent works have one false doctrine. The whole book is worth it to Satan if he can get us to believe and practice one lie or misrepresentation because that's all it takes to reduce someones testimony and light.

There are lots of biblical Apocrypha works I have read and I think there is a lot of truth in some of them. It would be awesome to have a modern day Joseph Smith set out to make a full compilation of these and tell me with authority what is and isn't true, but I rely on the spirit while keeping what I learned mostly to myself, waiting for the day the Lord returns and everything will be set in order.

As a result my views change over time, but the simple doctrine of Christ is my foundation and remains unchanged. My desire to follow the spirit remains unchanged, and I have no problem blooming where I am currently planted in the LDS church.

I started a new thread about the book since I received it and have read about half of it, if anyone cares to read it.

I have received some powerful confirmations about the book. I believe it is of God and has been published at this time for a purpose.
