Trump versus Romney

Post by justme »

Deseret News is reporting the results of a poll of a hypothetical match up between Trump and Romney. Among very likely to vote republicans in Utah Romney beats Trump 55 to 37.

Glad to see there is still a preponderance of common sense in Utah.

I would rather vote for Pelosi as President than Mr. Romney. At least with Pelosi I know what she stands for. Romney changes his position with the tides.

I notice when people speak negatively about Trump there is never any substance. The best negative stuff gets really complicated and ends up nullifying itself. Romney is a member in good standing with the Church and that makes it hard for some people to not like his politics, but I for one do not like his politics and I would never vote for him, there are plenty of other members in good standing whose politics I prefer to his.

I dont' know. I voted for Romney when he ran, but I didn't really like him. He just strikes me as being to smarmy and oily. Like a used car salesman. That and a person almost can't get to that level in politics without acquiring at least a few skeletons in their closet. We already know what Trumps skeletons are, and they are fairly tawdry, but I've learned that the guys who like to come off as family men and pure as the driven snow, usually have skeletons that make someone like Trump look like the boyscout. Just my experience.

Trump has more ex wives than all former presidents combined.

It really takes a high degree of cynicism to think that Romney is actually a lesser man than Trump and is just hiding it.

He doesn't have that many ex wives does he? Only like 3 or 4. Besides, when it comes to being divorced, what difference does it really make after the first one? At least according to scripture.

Cynicism not withstanding, I've learned the hard way that often a man like Donald Trump tends to prove to be more trustworthy and less vile in their sins then the men who are the squeeky clean, and perfect looking types.

All I know for certain, is that if Romney decides to run against a Democrat in the future, then some of the vilest skeletons possible will come out. Either that or they turn out to be all made up and fabricated. Dems are good with that. It seems to be their forte.

I once met a lady who thought that Donny and Marie were vile hypocrite sinners. Her only evidence were that they acted and claimed to be squeeky clean. She used your exact argument without a gram of evidence.

To summarize good must be evil and so we should choose obvious evil. Is that really a good life philosophy?

Anyway I am still pleased to see the results of the Utah poll. Gives me hope in my fellow saints. I just wish another good moderate republican would run against Trump and bring back some decency to the process.

Elections are a sham and I think the powers that be will do away with them in the not-so-distant future, if they are allowed.

I am ashamed that I not only supported Romney with my monies and my time, but encouraged others to do the same, during two campaigns. He’s just a Mormon con man just like Harry Reid and Paul H. Dunn.

Had you asked me during the republican primaries I would have chosen Romney (had he run) over Trump hands down. Now I'm not so sure. Occams Razor tells me Romney who was way too careful with his words is jealous the unfiltered Trump one when the worst they could thrown at Romney was his binders full of women comment whereas Trump was talking about grabbing women by the you - know - what and still got elected.

Of course Hillary is about as warm and inviting as an Eskimos outhouse.

At least Paul H. Dunn was motivated by trying to help people. I would not lump him in with the likes of Reid, Romney or even Flake.

Moderate Republican: A wolf who flatters the sheep and doesn't provoke them when he leads them behind the brush to tear them apart.

Trump: A sheepdog who doesn't apologize for attacking the wolves, be they Democrats or "moderate" Republicans. Remember, what is now considered "moderate" would have been seen as liberal back in the late 1960s when the Church said that a liberal Mormon is someone who does not have a testimony.

Mitt Romney let this country down when it needed him most. There is no reason he should not have been able to beat Obama in 2012, that election his his to lose and he did just that.

Fast forward 4 years and we finally get a populist no nonsense candidate and one actually willing to stand up to the globalist cabal that sold out this country in the name of free trade and call out the choaking climate of political correctness that is eroading first ammendment rights throughout the country and what does Mitt Romney do? He sides with the afore mentioned globalist cabal and gives a scathing and very public rebuke of Trump for several minutes that got broadcast live all throughout the country. This was something far more scathing than he ever did to Obama on the campaign trail and Romney wasn't even in the 2016 race and Trump was in his OWN PARTY. Had he had that kind of fire and zeal in 2012 against Obama he would be President Romney. Almost seems like maybe he threw the 2012 election on purpose.
