Writing down revelations

I was curious if anyone here has made an effort to do this. I started doing this about 18 months ago, and I've had amazing experiences. After reading the CNN article on how Nelson does it, it closely resembles my method....I also use a yellow notepad, though of the digital iPhone app variety.
I start with one or more specific questions. Most recently I inquired of the Lord how it is possible Joseph Smith can use divination/seer stones/occultist practices to bring to light the Book of Mormon and the Church, when the Bible specifically warns against these practices.
I fast for 1 to 3 days. At the end of the fast I pray, and meditate. The answers come to my mind all at once, over a period of several minutes to several hours, in what I truly believe is a conversation with the Lord. It can be said I am simply talking to myself....except I could never imagine such correct and intelligent answers as those that are given to me about my specific questions.
As the answers come, I write them on my iPhone notepad. I have since gone through my revelations and compiled them into what could be deemed a written list of doctrines. To my surprise, what I have revealed only strongly supports what has already been revealed....and in the instances where the mysteries that clearly mankind is not ready to receive have come, I cannot reveal them......just as the prophets of old are commanded not to reveal portions of what they've seen or been told.
Has anyone else tried this? I would be interested if you have not done so, to invite you to do so, and to ask you to report back on your experience.
Thanks
