What my High Council Rep. saw in the Temple

Post by kirtland r.m. »

My High Council Rep. about ten years ago in the Bingham Creek Stake in a West Jordan, Utah ward told of an interesting experience he had, I believe at the Salt Lake Temple. He had been invited to be at the Temple for a sealing. He entered the sealing room with others, when in walked a man and woman dressed in white, and obviously from the spirit world. They took two of the empty seats, and witnessed the ceremony. I would imagine they were two relieves who had passed on who for some special reason where allowed to attend. that would have been interesting to see. Maybe I will post a few more of these from people I know of later.

I witnessed almost the exact thing when my brother, his wife and their children were sealed. It was in the Logan tenple. I even knew who the witness was. These things happen, the veil is thin and the work done in the temples is of God.

My grandma was a temple worker and saw the spirit of a family member at the temple within 30 minutes of their passing. She knew before most anyone else they had died.

While in the hospital as my close friend lay dying, the stake patriarch and I gave him a blessing, asking HF to release his spirit from mortality. A short time later he passed and while I did not see his spirit, I felt him brush past as he "exited."

When my youngest daughter was born, I sensed my grandmother's presence. She had this way of making you feel a certain way, and I hadn't felt it since she passed, and haven't felt it since.

I also had a patron in the temple come up to me and tell me someone from the spirit world was standing behind the chair I was in. I didn't feel anything, though.

While in the Jordan River Temple doing confirmations near the baptistery, I watched a Temple Worker who was confirming one of our sisters for a particular sister's name shiver, and say excitedly to the others in the room "did you feel that" and it was only for seconds. He then said that particular sister was allowed to be there to witness the confirmation, then was gone.
Here is one more experience. I was in a meeting once where the speaker had been to a fireside given by one of the Jordan River Temple Presidency. She was a friend of mine as well. She said this Temple Presidency member said that one morning he came to the J.R. Temple very early, before the doors open to Temple Workers, and the Lord permitted him to get a peak thru the veil, and see the Temple rooms and halls filled with angels who were there.

Of all the temples in the world I've been to, the Jordan River had the best spirit. It literally hits you walking in. Hoping to visit it again now that it has reopened.

What made it so obvious?

I had submitted some temple names and there was one ancestor I felt particularly close to. I asked my teenage sister to do the baptism for her and a few others. I went with her and stood by the font to watch. Upon the baptism for this ancestor being completed, I heard a very audible and jubilant "Thank you! Thank you!"

When I did the initiatory for this sister, the worker and I were both in tears the Spirit was so strong. I had mentioned anything about this ancestor being special to me.

I did the endowment that day as well, and it was every bit as special as the other ordinances.

My teenage nephew went to do baptisms a couple of years ago. When he walked in he wondered why there were so many people there. Then he realized most of those he saw weren't mortal.

I wish there was a website where members of the church could go to share experiences like these. Unfortunately, the trolls would overrun it in no time.

We had a temple worker in our ward (who sadly passed away recently) who told me that when he was attending a proxy sealing, a women walked into the room in her wedding dress and sat down right next to him. She was the deceased wife.

Family history buff here. I have researched and submitted hundreds and hundreds of names to the temple. Only once or twice did I feel strongly that who I was representing was near. I really wish I had more experiences like that but I haven't. The best experience came from a Sister I don't even know in another state...I divvy out temple names to my siblings. I sent some to my sister in Washington. When she was at the temple one day she had several endowments that she wanted to get done at once. She passed some out to friends who were with her. She had one left. An elderly sister came up to her and asked if she had a name she could do. My sister was happy to give out the last endowment. She watched this sister throughout the endowment who just sobbed. After the session was over this elderly lady approached my sister and stated "She's here, she's here!" When I was related that story it made me feel good because that particular family has been special to me in my family history research. I was happy to know that that departed ancestor choose to accept the truth.

It makes me wonder if I need to do a better job of NOT just going through the motions when I'm at the temple. I'm sure there are constantly angels present, we just don't know how to notice them?
