Church v Multi National Corporation

Post by Dusty52 »

I realise that in the modern world for a church to exist it must be able to run like a corporation or does it?
If it is run like a company when is inspiration part of the equation?
I know that missionaries go around in twos for safety reasons, no need to ask God about that but what about the changes to the visiting programs and the introduction of the ministering program?
To solve all of this you could just adopt a blind obedience approach to everything but I'm not an advocate of that attitude
When a change is introduced what are the reasons behind it? is it needs must or is it through revelation from God, as members aren't we entitled to know?
I wonder how other churches deal with this issue?

I always thought Heavenly father was the ultimate CEO, in that he delegated the greatest task of creating the earth to his very capable son and VP, Jesus Christ who has excelled at the task and was given more responsibility for all of us here on the earth from the beginning to the end by giving his life for us. Jesus Christ has delegated the earthly tasks to his risk managers, the Holy ghost and perhaps guardian angels and others who are serving him in any capacity to help us return to him. He gives us top managers to motivate us, the prophet and the twelve apostles, stake presidents and bishops. Heavenly father has the best human resource managers ever imagined, our parents and ancestors. He knows what talents we have and has given us parents to unlock those gifts for our good. He has incorporated policies and procedures to ensure that we receive bodies and a chance to move up the ladder, even to the top of it all someday if we choose, no glass ceiling and no short cuts. He has given us in the last days compliance officers, republic and democratic forms of governments to make sure we have free agency available. Free agency is designed to give us our best shot at becoming who we really are without undue influence or force and has been given to us by our founding fathers who designed our constitution and the American experiment, all for our good. He has established a stream of knowledge and intelligence that has been flowing freely since the restoration of the His church in 1830, ending the dark ages, that has exponentially built new technologies to make our lives better. He has analysts, the angels writing everything down in the book of life so everything is official. Heavenly father is the most experienced people developer in this universe and can use the weak and meek to build his kingdom here on the earth. Heavenly Father planned the work and worked the plan with the best and brightest that he has and also miraculously incorporated the rest of us into it as well. He found a place for all of us to excel if we want to. He is debt free and owns everything, but is willing to share with us all he has. All he asks of us is 10% back after he gives us 100%. His bean counters (accountants) are probably going crazy with that policy. He creates a new pie instead of dividing the pie into smaller pieces and understands human nature and the economy of heaven which is increase. He doesn't need attorneys or bankers...no place for them...lol.... His is a house of order and all he employs are very professional. Never any scandals in his heavenly realm. He is even willing to let us choose whatever we will here on earth even at our peril. Everyone participates voluntarily, no one is compelled. He is no respecter of persons, which to me means he is as fair and non discriminate as he can be, no preference on who we are, just matters how we perform. Soon we will all be gathered for a performance review and summary report of our earthly stewardship. We will all give our report about how we used his resources, how we raised or didn't raise his children, how we used our time here, how we perfected or hid our talents, what good works we performed or lack thereof, and if we glorified his name and believed in this Son and his other servants that were sent for us to follow.....I think some of us get bogged down with the rebellious natural man attitude, instead of looking at the bigger picture. Nothing is perfect here in this earthly realm, mistakes are made, people err in judgement, but that's the brilliance of the plan. I don't think corporations are a modern construct. It's a way to organize and make things work, to bring forth success. The modern part probably is the lawsuits that would be brought to bear on the leaders if the corporation wasn't in place. Just my imagination going a little wild......I really do think Heavenly Father thinks this way...lol We humans don't really have the information we need to second guess everything. The older I get, the more I'm convinced of this. Being in mortality is like have a dixie cup with a pin hole over your eyes and all you can see is a tiny part of what is really there.

No man can serve two masters... ye cannot serve both God and mammon. Matthew 6:24.

It is true that now that we have a global church, things were systematized in order to run smoothly. High Nibley has thoughts on this.

The doctrine and covenants says this is the lords church, and that he will not forsake it.

It would be impossible to gather Israel and complete the worldwide work if the church was organized any other way. One simply needs to look at history and the attempts to realize all of the protections that can come with certain legal structures. Albeit these protections can be limited to the time it takes for a wicked society to manipulate laws to persecute and attempt to overturns freedoms, it does provide a window of “unprecedented” opportunity for the church to roll forth a stone and fill the earth.
